Assault Prevention
(Numerical data)

Acceptance of LGBT Community

(Numerical data)

According to Kimberly Hansen Breitenbercher,

in her study, Sexual Assault on College
Campuses: Is an ounce of prevention enough?
writes: It seems reasonable enough to ask,
"Which sexual assault prevention programs are
effective?" But a quick perusal of the literature
shows that virtually all published reports
evaluating the effectiveness of sexual assault
prevention interventions report favorable
outcomes--at least on one dependent variable
measured in the study. Among the 38
quantitative outcome studies published since
1967, only four have reported nonsignificant
findings on all dependent variables (Borden,
Karr, & Caldwell-Colbert, 1988; Breiten- becher
& Gidycz, 1998; Nelson & Torgler, 1990;
Schaeffer & Nelson, 1993).

Students would be required to learn more

about the LGBT community including student
testimonials, places to get more information,
and information about hate speech and or
crimes as well as how to report offenses.
Ronnie Sanlo, author of Lesbian, Gay, and
Bisexual College Students: Risk, Resilence, and
Retention, Researchers have documented the
prevalence of harassment of sexual minority
students on college campuses (Aberson, Swan,
& Emerson, 1999; Berrill, 1990; DAugelli, 1992;
Evans & DAugelli, 1996; Franklin, 2000; Herek,
1993; Rankin, 2003), and that sexual minorities
are victimized at a far higher rate than other
populations on campus, perhaps as much as
four times more often than the general student
population (Comstock, 1991; Evans & DAugelli,
1996).

Sensitivity, Acceptance, and Tolerance in

the Workforce
(Commonsense data)

Despite an individuals political positioning etc.,

gay marriage has been legalized in all but 14
states. Students in a college setting must learn
sensitivity, acceptance, and tolerance in order
to thrive in the workforce. Lucas Grindley,
writer for theadvocate.com, commented in his
review of the recent State of the Union
address, Among the usual laundry list of
American priorities and constituencies, the
State of the Union address for the first time
explicitly included lesbians, bisexual and
transgender people. It might be surprising, but
never before had any president used the words
"lesbian," "bisexual" or "transgender" when
talking to the huge audience that watches the
annual State of the Union. The reference came
Tuesday as part of President Obama's
description of the values that make us
American.
