GENA OLSON

CAREER OBJECTIVE

Young and eager Student Teacher with a Masters in Elementary and Special Education seeking a Teaching position in a
local School District. It is my career goal to make a difference in childrens lives in doing so I will create a learning
environment that is motivational, safe and positive by providing superior teaching skills.

EXPERIENCE
S T U D E N T T E A C H E R , S T E P H E N S O N E L E M E N T A RY, P O R T L A N D , O R ,
Co-teach with a fourth grade and Learning Center Teacher. This included developing lesson plans, observing and/ or
teaching groups or whole class instruction, leading IEP meetings, creating IEPs, meeting with parents, developing
Behavioral Support Plans and carrying them out, and providing support in all areas of the school. Also assisting in
assessments of students and creating report based on the results. As a student teacher I was asked to take on the full
responsibilities of each one of my teachers (Learning Center for winter term, fourth grade for spring term) during the
entire day.

Co-teach with a second grade and Resource Center Teacher. This involved creating lesson plans, communication with
staff and supervisors, teaching whole class and small group, attending IEP meetings, staff meetings and teacher planning
workshops. As a student teacher I was asked to take on the full responsibilities of each one of my teachers (Resource
center during winter term, second grade during spring term) during the morning hours.

As a nanny my duties included picking up the kids off the school bus, providing a snack and a safe and warm
environment for them to complete their homework. During homework I would tutor the girl in 2nd grade math,
reading, and writing. The oldest boy was autistic so this included giving medication and restraining him at time that he
would become violent.

Work with the Hyam Family included driving to gymnastics and preschool, cooking lunch and making snacks
throughout the day. Daily activities to prepare both children for preschool and improve the speech language ability of
the little boy.

My responsibility as a server included ensuring that guests have an enjoyable dining experience by providing quality
customer service, taking orders, serving food and drinks, and removing dinnerware from the table in a timely manner.
My responsibility also included working closely with a team and being knowledgeable about the menu and restaurant.
