GALATIANS CHAPTER

2
Legalism answers nothing of
value and creates false
standards
Dr John C McEwan

Titus the case against

compulsory
circumcision
Verses 1 5
Titus accompanied

Paul with the gift of the churches of

the west for Jerusalem. The
decision to circumcise him was
made to silence false brothers
and open the door for ministry in
that city by Titus being seen as
Jewish by religion.

Circumcision

Covenant Sign for Israel Gen

17:10-14, Ex 12:48, Lev 12:1-3.
Circumcision is Jewish Col 4:11, Tit
1:10, Eph 2:11.
It was not required for Gentile
believers Acts 15:1-24
It became a false standard for
legalism Gal 5:1-3, 6:12-13, Eph
2:8-11.

Satans Divide and

Rule

Verses 6 13 Peter had become

the apostle used by the
legalists, and Paul had to
challenge him strongly about this.
Peter and the others had all
agreed to Pauls clear call.
Verses 14 16 Paul lays out the
Gospel message very clearly here.

Crucified with Him

Verses 17 19
Christ hasnt saved
us to make us sinners, but saints! We
have died to our old lives, and we live
to serve Him now.
Verses 20 21
We are crucified
with Christ; our position in Him means
all that we carry was carried by Him.
We are altogether new through His
love for us shown on the cross.
