Chapter 2

The Song By John Lennon: Give Peace a Chance is the song I am using for this unit.
It was released around July 1969 by John Lennon as a solo project. This song was one of
the more popular Anti War anthems against the Vietnam War. The song is about Giving
Peace a Chance and it is just repeatedly said mostly throughout the song.

This song represents the expectations of Unit 2:

describe the role of the Church as an institution empowered by the Holy Spirit and
charged with the responsibility of the moral and ethical formation of her people.
explore the origin and purpose of Catholic social teaching;.
explore ways Church teaching can help people understand contemporary ethical
and moral issues as part of the discernment process.

By chanting Give Peace a Chance this represents God's Love and how was people we
should go spread peace and love throughout the world. As Catholics it is under God's
Word and Love to spread this, and relates to Church teaching about ethical and moral
formation. This relates to the use of Cardinal and Theological Virtues in how as practicing
Catholic we should spread peace. It is in the fundamentals of the Church to spread peace
and use peace as a concept in our morals and ethics. Peace also incorporates social
justice and teachings in how you should respect everyone and treat everyone the same.
It is the advocate for Justice. The Catholic Catechism states that, We should all pursue
the common good and support those institutions which help to promote this good
C.C.C 1926 The Common Good is where everyone looks at all aspects to a better quality
of life for people peacefully.
We expressed this course expectation in class, our homework, during prayer, class
discussions and during tests. The song lyrics express the new age of life in which we
have to use Catholic moral, ethical , teachings and virtues . We have to spread God's
Love and Light for us. By doing assignments such as the ecological stewardship
assignment and the Journal 2 assignment. It are these assignments that inspired me
to choose a song as a article for this assignment. We also expressed it in our notes, For
example we worked on the slides and one slides states the definition of social justice,
Social justice applies the Gospel of Jesus to societys structures, systems and laws so
peoples rights are guaranteed in the slide's about 3 Social Justice in Unit 2.
I really enjoyed working on this unit. The unit thought me new things spiritually,
mentally and emotionally. I liked how we talked about nature, because I am a big
advocate on nature and how we as humans are suppose to protect it. really liked the
discussions we participated in. I personally thought I did really good in this unit because
the ecological part of the unit really interested me and I was putting more efforts in my
assignments. I would like to have more trips or even a trip in which we explore this unit
like going hiking.
