Unit Focus: Elie Wiesels Night and The Holocaust
Time Frame: Three Weeks (12 lessons)
Lesson: #10

Objectives:
Students will be able to evaluate the effects of U.S. involvement
during World War II, including the bombing of Japan, and use
evidence to defend their viewpoint during a classroom
discussion.
Students will be able to publish their work on Google Sites and
use digital media (images, videos, music) to enhance their
website.

5. Analyze the Nazi policy of pursuing racial purity, especially
against the European Jews; its transformation into the Final
Solution; and the Holocaust that resulted in the murder of six
million Jewish civilians.
6. Discuss the human costs of the war, with particular attention
to the civilian and military losses in Russia, Germany, Britain, the
United States, China, and Japan.

Lesson

Opening (5 min)
Greet the class and instruct students to meet briefly
with their teammates to discuss what needs to be
completed. Learners will update their team plan of
action

Team Time (50 min)


Student will work to complete their team projects.
Observe teams working and be available to answer
questions or give advice for their project.
For the last ten minutes, have teams go over their
presentations together and practice their presentation.

Team Debrief/Closure (5 min)


Have teams debrief their team time and identify what
they need to do in order to be ready to present their
final project.
