To become a
psychologist you need
at least a masters
degree. However,
most jobs will require
a doctoral or specialist
degree. To be able to
practice, you need a
license or certification.

Psychologists with a
doctoral or specialist
degree will have a
better chance at
finding a job than
those with masters
degrees. The best
opportunity for a job is
in the school
psychology field.

Analysts, Physicians

Sociologists

Sociologists need a
masters degree or
Ph.D. There are two
kinds of masters
degree programs. The
traditional program
prepares students to
get a Ph.D. The
applied, clinical, and
professional program
prepares students to
enter the professional
workplace.
The sociology field has
strong completion but
candidates with an
advanced degree,
strong statistical and
research skills, and a
background in
sociology will have the
best job prospects.

Statisticians

Statisticians need a
masters degree for
most jobs. Some only
require a bachelors

Questions: Answer each question in a short paragraph.

1. Which career seems like the best fit for you after knowing this information?
The career that seems like the best fit for me is being a statistician. They only
require a masters degree and they make more money than the other two jobs. They
also are growing faster than the other two. Lastly, statisticians will have to work in an
office which is something I do not mind doing.
2. What college were you thinking about going to? Does it offer the major needed to
attain this career?
I was thinking about going to Duke University or the University of Minnesota and
both of those colleges offer the major needed to attain this career. The major that I
would need to enter this career would be Statistics and both colleges offer a
bachelors, masters, and doctorate for it.
