A. The third grade students will demonstrate their knowledge of wetlands and
forests by completing a jeopardy game.

A. Prerequisite skills
1. The students should know what a forest is.
2. The students should know what a wetland is.
3. The students should know what animals live in wetlands and forests.
4. The students should know what a habitat is.
5. The students should know the difference between coniferous trees
and deciduous trees.
B. Key Vocabulary
1. Deciduous- trees that lose their leaves every year
2. Coniferous- trees with needle like leaves that stay year round
3. Adaptation- how an organism adapts to its environment
4. Habitat- living and nonliving things in an ecosystem
5. Insects- small invertebrate animal with several pairs of legs
6. Amphibians- cold blooded vertebrate animal, live in water then land
7. Mammals- warm blooded vertebrate animal
8. Reptiles- scaly cold blooded vertebrate animal, lives on land
9. Forest- an ecosystem in which many trees grow
10. Wetland- low land covered by water at least part of the year
11. Filtration (water)- cleanses water

1. Review the concepts of habitats.

IV. Implementation
A. Introduction
1. The teacher will show the Dinosaur Train video to wrap up habitats.

B. Development
1. The teacher will divide the class up into three teams of eight.
2. The students will each take turns answering a question for their
team.
3. The teacher will document if their responses are correct or incorrect
and also keep score via the website.
4. If a student answers incorrectly the next person on the following
team can trying to answer.
5. Repeat step 4 until the question is answered correctly or all three
teams try to respond.

C. Closure
1. The teacher will hand out the unit test and have the students turn it in
when completed. If needed, the students may have extra time to
complete test if they do not finish by the end of the period. (See
Attached)

D. Accommodations/Differentiation
1. Z.B. has mild spastic cerebral palsy. He has vision problems with his
condition. To accommodate for these needs he will sit where he is
most comfortable to see the screen for jeopardy. For testing
accommodation, he may have his test read to him and the teacher or
aide will fill in his response for the short answer.
