Of Mice and Men Sequel
Lets go inside, He opened the bar door generously for George who seemed
crestfallen.
Thanks Slim, He walked slowly in the open doorway staring at the hard
wood floor. The stench of alcohol and burnt cigarettes stung his nose like a wasp.
George covered his nose right away, hiding it to the people inside. He sat down at
the cushioned bar stool to see Curly playing pool with others. Curly seemed a little
drunk by the way he swayed back and forth and by his cursing. Georges foot
repeatedly tapped the floor and tears started to form in his eyes. A sharp pain hit
him in the stomach. He was starving for food. He raised his hand signaling for a
drink drowsily. A glass of whiskey slowly slides down the bar table and softly hits
Georges palm. He tilts his head back with a tear slowly dripping out of his eye.
While he gulped the cold alcohol his mind was full with dark regretful thoughts. His
hand shook wildly while he took more and more drinks.
Yeah, that Lennie guy was crazy and deserved to die, Curlys queue hit the
ball directly into the corner. After listening to Curlys jeering, George stood up
noticeably drunk. He contorted his face with anger.
What did you say? The whiskey glass hit the floor loudly and everyone
turned and looked silently.
You heard me, Curly said belligerently.
Maybe this will help you change your mind, Georges knuckles nearly broke
on Curlys face before Slim came in and held him back.
Dont do it, youre drunk, youre not thinking clearly, Slim said with a
concerned look on his face. Curly lay leaning on the pool table, eyes wide open,
unconscious. George was grasping his tightly closed fist furiously. Before the bar

tender could say anything, George snatched his leather coat and swiftly rushed out
of the bar.
George, do you know what you just did? Slim chased behind him, slamming
the bar door carelessly.
The chirping of the loud birds woke up George. Everything as lopsided and
was spinning. He grasped his forehead and moaned in pain. He could not remember
anything that happened last night, what he said or what he did. All he could
remember was the horrible thought of his dead friend.
He headed to the main building while his head started to feel better and his
vision became clearer. The closer he got to the building, the more he remembered
on what happened the last night. He grasped his fist and cringe on what he
remembered what he did. From the corner of his eye he noticed Slim staring at him
with a sad look and mouthing comments as he worked, alienating George. As he
saw the door, the handle slammed open with Curly bursting through the door.
George tightly held his fist and himself back from doing anything harsh.
You! Curly angrily pointed directly at George with. George noticed dried
blood underneath his nose and could see Curly holding a pack of ice for his cheek.
George rushed into Curlys office with his hat covering his face. Inside of the
cramped office there has the boss, Curly s father.
George, because of your actions I have to fire you, His fist hit the table
vibrating the wooden floor. Curlys face enlightened while he saw Georges face
contorting with his eyes wide open and his jaw slowly opening. The three stared at
each other for what felt like hours. A tear dropped from Georges face as he looked
down on the floor. He turned and reached for the door hinge slowly as if the boss
would change his mind.
The bar was very quiet and barren that evening. Georges face reflected off of
the whiskey glass, which was his seventh glass that night. As he called for his eighth
A loud noise barreled through the door. It was Curly. He went straight to the pool
table with a smug look on his face. He stared at George while he brushed past his bar
stool.

Hows being unemployed? Curly looked across the room to George who
was reticent. George slowly turned his head and gave Curly a piercing stare. The
table shook as George slammed his glass. Silently, George waddled to the door
ignoring Curly and his small body.
You could have been okay without that Lennie. He put you down. No wonder
you killed him, Silence fell over the bar as Georges fist hit the wall. George finally
could not deal with his scoff.
Ive had it with you, Curly, He sharply turned and widened his eyes and
Curly. He walked over to Curly clenching his fist. Curlys head smashed against the
pool table leaving a pool of blood dripping down the side. The monotonous echoing
drips of blood were very noticeable in the complete silence. Curlys face seemed
writhed as George cringed at the look.
George grabbed his coat and left the bar with jumbled thoughts.
