African Elephant

Habitat: Savannas, river


valleys, thorn bush, dense
forest and desert scrub

Diet: Wild Diet: Leaves,


bark, fruit, grass, twigs
and roots Zoo Diet:
Timothy hay, fruit and
vegetables

Size: Males can grow to 11


1/2 feet tall and weigh
12,000 pounds. Females
can grow to 9 feet and
weigh 6,000 to 10,000
pounds.
Fun Fact: The trunk
contains more than 40,000
muscles and is capable of
both great strength and
great dexterity. In addition,
the elephant has enormous
ears that if flaps back and
forth as a threat display, or
to cool its body.

about 4 to 7 feet,
and height on all
fours (at the withers)
is 2-3 feet.
Fun Fact: The black
bear is not always
Black. Their color
ranges from jet black
to gray to brown to
blonde. There is even
a blue phase.

and body length is 55 to 69
in., and the tail is 27.5 to
39.25 in. and their weight is
265 to 400 lb.
Fun Fact: wild lions sleep 16
to 20 hours a day

Size: Head and body


length, 10 to 12 feet.
Shoulder height 4.5 to 6
feet. Weight 2,000 to 3,000
lbs. Tail length, about 2.3
feet. Two horns, with the
anterior horn larger than
the posterior, being about
1.6 feet long.
Fun Fact: The sense of smell
is the primary method of
detecting danger. It is very
vocal in its communication,
using growls, grunts, and
most commonly a puffing
snort.

pellets, hay, vitamins

Size: Grant's Zebra


has short, narrow
ears and stands at 50
to 55 inches. The
weight is from 500 to
700 lbs.
Fun Fact: Zebra have
one functional toe
on each foot, the
middle one.
