Future Plan
College is a very important part of my future. It is basically what my future revolves
around. Whatever college I attend will change my life drastically. Thats why it is such a big
decision when it comes to which one to attend. Many different factors are factored in when
deciding. After high school I plan on attending either Indiana University, Southern Illinois
University, or University of Southern Indiana.
My first choice of school is IU. That being said, it is the school out of the three I am
looking at that is the most difficult to get into. There are many advantages and reasons I want to
attend there besides my education. IU was named the most wired among public universities by
PC Magazine in 2006 (Indiana). The IU campus is also fascinating. Thomas Gaines named IU
as one of the five most beautiful campuses in the nation. Another big reason I want to go to IU is
to join a fraternity and party (Indiana). There are 32 fraternities at IU and most of the frat
houses are freaking mansions. That alone is enough to want to go to IU.
The most important reason I want to attend IU is for my education. The School of
Computing and Informatics is absolutely amazing. When I went to visit IU, I was very impressed
by how they presented themselves and the information they gave. The classrooms were crazy.
Some of them had colorful rolly chairs that could be moved around the room. Every classroom
had multiple TV screens so what was being presented was easily seen from all points of views. It
is by far one of the most totally fabulous and cool schools I have seen.

My second choice of colleges to attend is SIU. It is where both of my parents graduated
from. Also, most of my family is located in Carbondale/ very close to there so I would be able to
see them fairly often. Beside that, there are other reasons I would like to attend SIU. One of them
being that the food plan there provides unlimited food from 7 am to 11 pm, or something like
that. The food there is also flameball. SIU also has a living learning community for the college of
science which would be cool to live at. A big reason my parents would like me to attend SIU is
due to the scholarships they provide. If I get a 26 on my upcoming ACT I will be able to get a
$6,000 a year scholarship which would be awesome.
The most important aspect of SIU is the education they provide. I visited the Computer
Science Department of SIU and the professor there was really helpful. He let me know what I
needed to look into before I started college such as the programming languages that are being
learned (python, java, c++, etc) and he also gave me a little booklet that had a layout of all four
undergraduate years if I did attend there. Being able to see what classes I was required to take
and what some of the classes I would be taking four years down the line is really cool.
The third school I would end up attending is, love and behold, USI. I have biased
opinions about USI mainly due to the fact that I live right across the highway from it. Who wants
to live a block down the road from their parents while attending college? That being said, if
worst comes to worst, I would go there. Theres nothing wrong with USI, but I just dont find
anything remarkable about it. It is certainly better than Ivy Tech, but still, since I am aiming to
work for either google or microsoft or any other major company then SIU or IU would probably
be a better choice. That being said, there are advantages of attending USI such as the cost,
$221.22/credit hour, which is very cheap compared to other colleges (Tuition). Another
advantage that pretty much contradicts what I just said above is that it is close to home. Although

I do want to be away from my parents, I still love them and I do like my fat cat Goldy so I would
like to see her every once in a while, along with my dog Gabs.
Again, the most important aspect of USI, or any college for that matter, is the education. I
can not say much about the computer science department of USI because I have not visited it. I
have heard that it has a pretty good school of business which is where the computer science
department is located. I do know that the topics that will be studied are software engineering,
system development, artificial intelligence, and data structures which are pretty general topics
when it comes to computer science (Computer).
IU, SIU, and USI are all amazing schools to go to for computer science. Although IU is
my first choice of colleges to attend, I will most likely go to SIU. I feel more at home at SIU due
to the fact that my parents both attended there and that Im close to family. When my final
choice of school comes, I am very certain that it will be either IU, SIU, or USI.
