Sedona Joynt was my student in English 3 and Creative writing at Gonzalo Garza Independence High School.
From her first day in my class, I knew Sedona was an extraordinary individual. Smart and outspoken, she was equally
adept in discussing current events and social issues as well as relevant concepts in literature. Her intelligence paired
with her persistence to express an original voice and be an instrument of change and inspiration through different
modes of communication. Sedona is an outstanding artist as she is a writer. In all areas of communication, Sedona is a
keen mind and an original voice.
Sedona is a strong reader and writer. She reads actively and analytically, capturing the soul of the text. When
she writes, she is fluent, candid, and profound. Her diction is exact and appropriate; her voice, unique. This is not
surprising because she has a strong command of the English language. She is Internet savvy, so she constantly reads
and keeps herself abreast of the latest news or issue online. It is not surprising that she does a wonderful job at
discussing literary concepts with confidence. She has demonstrated this by writing poems, persuasive essays, and
literary analysis of numerous works of literature in her writers notebook.
Her real love, though, is art. Sedona channels her energies and communicative and creative abilities to serve
her lifelong passion. I have never known a student who is consumed by her chosen craft as much as Sedona. An
indefatigable worker, she had been creating art works since she was little. And her ardor for her craft has not abated.
She knows with absolute certainty that she will be a prominent artist one day. Among her numerous interests, it is the
field cosmetology that she plans to pursue a career in someday. Watch for her on the beauty and fashion scene in the
future!
A hard and diligent worker, Sedona has a wide range of talents. In the year she was in my class, she helped
create outstanding bulletin board displays that showcased her creativity and ingenuity. Being technologically adept and
Internet savvy, she worked long hours after school to single-handedly create our class website. Sedona was not only
gifted but also generous in sharing her knowledge and skills with others. Whenever she would see other students in
class struggling with their schoolwork, Sedona would volunteer to teach them until they have learned the concept.
While at Garza, Sedona has earned multiple awards from her teachers because of her perseverance, diligence, and
outstanding character.
Sedonas success in school can be attributed to her ability to set lofty goals and putting in a great deal of effort
to achieve them. No matter how difficult the task, Sedona is undaunted because she knows what she values. She sets
her priorities straight and works hard to attain her goals. Sedonas outstanding personal qualities have enabled her to
develop her creativity and earn the academic success she now enjoys. If you are seeking a superior candidate with
outstanding talent, exemplary work ethic, and a stellar scholastic record, then she is an excellent choice. I am proud to
