Dear Senior Exploration Judges:

Good Evening, My name is Leah. I am an honor student/athlete at Saint James High School. I
have been a part of the Sharks Varsity Competition team for two years. I cheered in high school
all four years. I lived in Austintown, Ohio for the first fifteen years of my life. My freshman year
of high school I attended Fitch High School. As my parents were presented with new job
opportunities they decided to relocate to Pawleys Island, South Carolina. My sophomore year, I
attended Waccamaw High School. As my parents became more familiar with the area, they
wanted to move to Murrells Inlet, South Carolina. Yet I began my junior year I attended Saint
James High School. As my parents separated, and my mom moved back to Ohio, my dad made
the difficult decision we should stay where we are until I graduate. Thankfully we didnt move
and I continued my senior year at Saint James High School. As graduation approaches, I am
getting very anxious about college. I am not sure where I want to go to college, but I do know I
want to be a pharmacist and continue my cheerleading career in college.

I was motivated to choose my topic of ISIS because I am really interested in the current
events in our world. It impacted me when I witnessed the terrible happenings on the news. I
believe this could cause another world war if we do not overcome this terrorist group. Ever
since September 11, 2001; I have been really concerned with terrorist organizations and what
their motives are when they do such heinous acts.

The problem I have faced with this topic was the research. The events that happened,
are updated daily, but searching background information and locating reliable information was
at times difficult. Making charts and organizing the information was helpful because it showed
change over time. When charting the time frame of actions between ISIS actions, such as
suicide bombings, beheadings, and kidnappings, as well as United States retaliations has helped
me in understanding this ongoing war. However, it also demonstrates that ISIS is moving
forward on attacks no matter what the repercussions for their actions may be.

Thank you for taking the time to read this letter and giving me your undivided attention.
It was a pleasure to communicate to you about my personal life and senior exploration project.
I appreciate your time and cannot wait to present you with further information about my topic.
Thank you for this opportunity.

Sincerely,

Leah Boyd
