Unit Standards, Goals, and Objectives

Lesson #1
Goal: Students will gain an understanding for the way of life in Ancient Greece by learning about the
Peloponnesian Wars between Sparta and Athens and the roles the Gods played.
Objectives:
Every student will be able to:

After the documentary, explain what role the Greek Gods played in the War
After the documentary, explain what roles the Gods played in everyday life
After the documentary, understand what Greek Society was like during the Wars

Lesson #2
Goal: Students will understand the beliefs of Greek Society and how the Gods played an important role
in the daily lives of Greeks.
Objectives:
Every student will be able to:

After group discussion, be able to share at least one belief they had that differed from
another groups
After the powerpoint, explain the main groups of Greek Gods and some of their
offspring
After the powerpoint, explain the powers/roles of the Gods and Goddesses

Lesson #3
Goal: Students will research the family tree for the Greek Gods and create their own hand-drawn family
trees to present to the class to show their understanding of the Greek Gods Creation myth.
Objectives:
Every student will be able to:

Display accurate information on 30 Greek Gods/Goddesses


Explain the genealogy of most Gods/Goddesses
Explain the powers/roles the Gods/Goddesses had

Lesson #4
Goal: Students will continue researching their list of Greek Gods and Goddesses, and should be starting
to put their information on to their hand drawn family trees.
Objectives:
Every student will be able to:

Show research on the Gods/Goddesses they were assigned to research


Explain the drawings on their family tree
Display who is related to whom on their family tree

Lesson #5
Goal: Students will be finishing up their Family Tree projects, including colors and lines to show the
family ties between parents and offspring.
Objectives:
Every student will be able to:

Display the Gods/Goddesses they individually put on their group family tree
Display accurate information for the Gods/Goddesses
Explain the Greek Gods creation story through their tree

Lesson #6
Goal: Students will be able to retell the Greek Gods creation myth to the class by showing their family
tree their group created and explaining who the Gods were and what they did
Objectives:
Every student will be able to:

Display their Greek Gods family tree completed with 30 Gods/Goddesses


Display and Explain a description of the God or Goddess to go along with a drawing
Explain how the Gods were created

Lesson #7
Goal: Students will be able to name either the God/Goddess or his/her power and who their parents
were.
Objectives:
Every student will be able to:

Name all 30 of the Gods/Goddesses listed on the sheet given in class


Explain the origins of each God/Goddess named
Explain the powers/roles the God/Goddess had

innovations. Topics to include but not limited to the industrial revolution.
