What Ive Learned This Semester

Throughout the semester, Composition and Communications 110 has greatly developed many
important skills and techniques as well as taught me many new ones. From oral and essay citation
methods, essay writing and speech delivering techniques and skills, and techniques for communicating
and learning about other cultures through cultural experiences; my skills post-class skills dwarf my skills
pre-class. These skills shall be useful skills that I will use many times throughout my academic career as
well as post-academic career.

One major skill that I have dramatically improved upon is my oral and essay citation methods.
Prior to this class, I have not ever had to cite anything orally or within an essay. This class has required
me to learn to cite orally as well as within an essay in APA format therefore giving the information that I
am presenting credibility. I believe that I will take these skills learned within the class and apply them
many times in my academic and post-academic career.

Another major item that I have improved upon is my essay writing and speech delivering skills
and techniques. Skills such as writing without using passive voice when writing and essay to techniques
such as learning not to make repetitive movements and to look directly at your audience without
looking at your presentational aid while delivering a speech are skills that I have greatly improved upon
this semester. I believe that these are skills that I will use many times in the future in my academic
career as well as my post-academic career within the business world.

One last major item that I have dramatically improved upon this semester is techniques for
communicating and learning about other culture. I have developed these skills and techniques through
field work within other cultures of my own through learning manners while conducting interviews as
well as learning to be aware of how manners may differentiate through different cultures therefore
initiating the need to be aware of certain things that may be accustom to you that may therefore offend
someone from the culture that you are immersed within. I believe that this will be a greatly important
skill within my academic career as well as my post academic career in the business world due to the
great mixing-pot of cultures that one must deal with within school and the business world as well.

Composition and Communications 110 has greatly developed many of my skills and has dwarfed
my skills pre-semester as compared to the skillset that I possess post-semester. These skills and
techniques shall prove themselves quite useful as I progress into my academic career as they shall serve
as a useful skillset to develop upon as well as to use when trying to complete different tasks given to me.
These skills will also prove themselves useful in my post-academic career when heading the company
that I plan to take over and run. Overall, the skills I have developed and learned this semester will prove
themselves very useful in many ways and I am glad to have learned them.
