School. School is not only focused on Math Science and Engineering courses but offers
variety of Art and Technology classes. It is one of 43 schools in Harmony Public School
district in Texas. The school servers between K-8th grades, 741 students all around
Houston with 70 staff members including administrators, paraprofessionals, aids,
secretaries and etc. Students demography is as its shown below.

Describe how a variety of stakeholders from within the LEA and the communityat-large participated in the planning process.

Stakeholders have been defined as anyone who related with the school. For this
particular task, school principal, assistant principal of academic and operation,
school IT personal, computer teachers, core subject teachers, district office
budget and accountant, parent and students representatives and local business
owners have been involved whole processes. Campus technology people and
administrators have been taking the key role in creating this plan, as they are the
ones who involved, developed and will implement and evaluate the program over
the time.

outcomes that are supported by research.
Describe and cite the relevant research that supports the plans outcomes.
Describe the connection between the research and the plans goals.
Describe information gathered from site visits, including best practices.
Every professional institute needs to have system in placed that measures its
ongoing performance and develops plans for the future. Schools have the one of
the dynamic systems among all organizations and needs to meet with the local
governments, parents, students and communitys expectations. Every school
must have a plan designed to improve current technology level, students and
teacher competencies in order to achieve this goal.
The main target of the technology growth is improved learning and teaching.
Increasing the level of the technology usage and the quality of the work done in
the campus. Adapting technology into curriculum is another key component of
the plan that enables every individual to receive appropriate reflective of
technology application.
Technology plan is not a simple plan that keeping the current inventory and
focuses on purchasing new technology to campus. It is more emphasizes
establishing carrier goals, includes professional development strategies.
By starting with an organization's mission and priorities, a technology plan
helps to clarify where opportunities exist to improve infrastructure or deliver
services in a new way(Technology Planning, 2008)

CURRICULUM COMPONENT CRITERIA.

The Plan must establish clear goals and realistic strategy for using
telecommunications and information technology to improve education services.

(Answer at least 2 questions for each subsection below)

Describe teachers' current access to instructional technology and current use of

digital tools.
What technology is currently available to all teachers?
Harmony School of Fine Arts and Technology is currently assigning a laptop to
each teacher. Every classroom has ducking station compatible with laptop,
projector and apple TV already installed. School also has been offering teachers
I Phone 5s cellphones to increase ongoing internal external communication. This
has no cost for teachers. For the students, school has several of IPad 2 available
at the library when a teacher needed it. Teachers can check them in any time.
How are hardware and software currently being used in classrooms at
each grade level and in each content area?
Beginning with last year, school started to implement extended learning hours in
Math and ELA by increasing those classes hours into master schedule by using
online learning tools called ALEX, Compass. All middle school students between
6 through 8 grades have been assigned user name, password for that online
software and a Chromebook to achieve this goal. School has wireless internet
and firewall system all around. School has been adapted Accelerated Reading
system in the curriculum to engage students in reading. So, every individual
student required to read book and take the test. So school assigned a desktop to
each K-5th class a desktop.
Describe students' current access to instructional technology and current use of
digital tools. Include a description about the LEA policy, practices, and/or
replacement policy that ensures equitable technology access for all students.

Is technology currently available to all students?

Currently, appropriate level of technology is available for all students as it is

explained in previous question.
Do all student groups have equal and appropriate access to the available
technology?
It seems that in our school every student doesnt have equal opportunity in using
technology. However this implementation seems fair, when we consider that the
school has elementary and middle school levels. Central office academic
departments already took into consideration while they are accommodating the
technology employment accordingly to grade levels.

Describe goals and an implementation plan, with annual activities, for using
technology to improve teaching and learning. Describe how these goals align to
the LEA's curricular goals that are supported by other plans. Describe how the
LEA's budget (LCAP) supports these goals, and whether future funding
proposals or partnerships may be needed for successful implementation.
What are the LEAs curriculum goals and plans for assisting students to
meet content standards and demonstrate college and career readiness?
Harmony School of Fine arts and Technology is a college preparatory school and
its goal to get all gradated students ready for life. Thus, the curriculum and
competencies have been aligned with Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills
(TEKS) which is already set by Texas Education Agency and every student
needs to meet.
Are targets for improvement in student achievement being met?
So far, I can clearly state that those targets have been improved students
success. State test results have been proved that. School has been improving its
scores gradually.

Describe goals and an implementation plan, with annual activities, to address

Internet Safety and the appropriate and ethical use of technology in the
classroom.
What are the LEAs curriculum goals and plans for assisting students to
meet technology literacy and information literacy skills?
The goal for the supporting students to meet the literacy are extending the
learning beyond school walls, interactive multimedia classes and described how
a student can get access to online textbook.
How are technology and information literacy skills embedded in content
area lessons? Are specific courses offered that address these skills?
As it has been explained, online learning tools (ALEX and Compass) have been
embedded in Math and English Language Art courses. To spend more time in
those courses, the numbers of the hours were increased. Accelerated Reading
is also integrated in Reading classes. To achieve this goal, school appointed a
specific teacher as reading specialist and authorized her to follow up how the
students progresses have been ongoing. She regularly keeps track of classes
and students level by using software.

PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT COMPONENT

The Plan must have a professional development strategy to ensure that staff
understands how to use these new technologies to improve education services
(Answer at least 2 questions for each subsection below)

Summary of the teachers' and administrators' current technology proficiency and

integration skills and needs for professional development.
How does your LEA regularly assess teachers and administrators
personal technology proficiency skills?
Per Harmony Public Schools academic policy, a teacher needs to be
observed officially twice in a year and several times to be observed
unofficially. During those visits, one of the competency that teacher needs to
demonstrate a proficiency is technology. So school administrators
continuously are assessing teachers performance in using technology in
class. However there is not really a solid assessment system in place to
measure administrators technology usage.
What do teachers and administrators consider as their needs for
professional development?
For the teachers and administrators, in the beginning of the year there is
numerous numbers of professional developments. So they are being training in
technology as well. The one good thing about Harmony Public School is ongoing
training policy. There is always a webinar to train people. Whenever an employee
needs training, they can workshop request and most of the time their request
gets positive answer.
Describe goals and an implementation plan, with annual activities, for providing
professional development opportunities based on your LEA needs assessment
data and the Curriculum Component of the plan.
What professional development will be provided to ensure teachers and
administrators will be able to effectively accomplish the curricular goals for
students described in section 2?
The professional development emphasis shifting from how to use technology to
how to actually transform teaching and learning by using technology. Continue
provide campus based technology training to improve professional growth.

What professional learning will be available so teachers and

administrators can effectively use technology to assist with student
assessment?
All Harmony School of Fine Arts and Technology administrators will attend in a
trainings focus on how to implement technology in school and how to help
teachers when they need as part of technology plan. School administrators also
needs to participate training to learn how to be a role model for the teacher,
students and community as they are the technological leaders of the school. In
order principals to increase the efficiency of technology at the campus they need
to attend workshop and lead the teachers in attending workshop focused on the
technology implement.
