The Planets

The solar system

Have you ever heard of the 9

planets? Well if you have not
these are the names of them
Mercury, Venus, Earth, Mars,
Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus,
Neptune.

Mercury

Have you ever heard of

Mercury the first planet
from the sun. It is also the
hottest planet in our solar
system. Mercury is also
the smallest planet.
Mercury is also made of
rock. There surface is 333f.

Venus
Venus is the second planet
from the sun and the 5th

largest planet in the solar

system. It is a very rocky
planet and it and Earth are

about the same size.

Venus has strong winds
and acid rain. Venuss

surface tempter is 860f.

Earth
Earth is a great place to
live. It is the only planet
with life on it. Earth has
many different places it
has a lot of country's
states and many more for
example the United States
has states like Georgia and
Florida. There are many
stores like Justice.

Mars
Mars is the 4th planet from the
sun and the eighth largest
planet in the solar system. The
surface tempter is 85f. Large
dust storms often obscure the
planet. Spacecraft have landed
on the planet and said it is
mostly bare rock, sand, with
huge crayons and extended
volcanoes. Since the planet is
red they nicknamed it the red
planet.

Jupiter
Jupiter is the largest planet in
the solar system and the 5th
planet from the sun. Jupiter
also has the largest storms
the storm is called the great
red spot. The storm is 24

thousand kiloliters long it can

fit the whole Earth inside of
it. There you will find lighting
100 times stronger than any
of Earths storms.

Saturn
Saturn is the second largest
planet in the solar system and
the 6th planet from the sun.
Saturn is known for its many
rings. It is one of the gas
giants because it is a outer

planet. Sometimes Saturn is

called the ringed planet
because of all the rings. Its
rings are thousands of miles
long.

Uranus
Uranus is the third largest
planet in the solar system and

the 7th planet from the sun.

Uranus is one of the outer
planets. Uranus is tilted to its
side. They think maybe
another larger planet
bumped into Uranus and that
caused its tilt. Uranus has

very very thin rings.

Neptune

Neptune is the 4th largest

planet in the solar system and
the 8th planet from the sun.
Neptune is the coldest planet.
Neptune is about the same

size as Uranus. Neptune was

not discovered until the 19th
century. Neptune used to
have a big black storm on it.

Dwarf Planets

Have you ever heard of a

dwarf planet a dwarf planet is
a planet that is very small.
The most well known dwarf
planet is Pluto. Pluto used to

be a planet but it was to small

so now it is a dwarf planet.
Some science think that Pluto
might be asteroid.
