- Ask the students to clear off their desks
- Tell the students that we are going to be doing a activity and
that they need to copy the information off of the smart board

Transition to Body
Learning Activity
#1

- Now lets develop our own fair test

Body
Show Cows Moo Softly fair testing poster so based on what
we learned from the pencil exercise it is important to ensure
that you only change 1 thing when doing a test
Pull popsicle sticks to choose students to answer questions to
guide discussion
- In order to create a fair test what do we need to
remember? (reference CMS)
- If I wanted to see how a gummy bear changes in
vinegar, baking soda solution, salt water, and regular
water what would I need to do?
- What would I need to keep the same in the experiment
- The amount of liquid? The time they soak?
- What is the one thing we are changing in the experiment?
~ The solution

Time

15minutes

~have liquid premeasured in jars

grow the largest.
- Students will draw how they think the gummy bear will react
to each solution
- Formative assessment ~ ask students to put their
thumbs up if they understand or thumbs down if they
dont
- Ask the students if they have any questions
Closure
- On Monday we will look at the results of our test to see what
solution made the gummy bears grow the largest

Time
5 minutes

- Students can brainstorm questions they have about building and testing
materials.
