I was not really sure where to begin with this literary narrative. I had an idea to what novels I
wanted to write about, but I really wanted to make the paper empowering and relate to how it has
change my life and the way I look at the world. After reading the examples from the course packet I
knew exactly how I would begin. I wanted everyone to see who would read this paper why I fell in love
with the stories that have inspired me. I also wanted to write my own story within my paper because that
is what I love to do when I write. If I could write a book today it would be a fairy tale, so that is where I
began. I also wanted to incorporate how the stories related to my life in hope that readers to relate them
to their life. Even though it was a bit childish, I felt that is how I grew up with books. The imagination of
the paper had to be compared to a real Walt Disney film. I really thought about what my small
conference group said about the quotes at the beginning of the paper. Do they flow? Or not? I decided to
keep them there because I wanted to show off their importance to me. They should be at the top
because they create a certain characteristic of myself. I am that girl that is obsessed with Disney, and I
wanted to show that off. I am proud of that. Also, about the comments about my sentences being
choppy. I have always been a choppy writer because I feel it adds emphasis. It is my style, and honestly I
would not change that.
The Little Princess and Her Dreams- Draft 2
A dream is a wish your heart makes when youre fast asleep. Follow your heart. All it takes
is faith, trust, and pixie dust. They say if you dream a thing more than once, its sure to come true.
Always let your conscience be your guide. Just keep swimming. Sometimes the right path is not the
easiest one. Why, sometimes Ive believed in six impossible things before breakfast. GO LIVE YOUR
DREAM! The flower that blooms in adversity is the most rare and beautiful of all. I am on my way, I
can go the distance. I dont care how far, somehow Ill be strong. There is a world where hope and
dreams can last for all time. Remember youre the one that can fill the world with sunshine. Reach
for the sky. Tell me princess, when did you let your heart decide? Dont just fly, SOAR. Hakuna
Matata. I want adventure in the great wide somewhere. Our fate lives within us, you only have to be
brave enough to see it. All your dreams can come true if you have the courage to pursue them.

Aladdin. Dumbo. The Lion King. Beauty and the Beast. Brave. Walt Disney. Yes, I know what you all must
be thinking, this girl is obsessed with Disney. How am I going to reply to that? Simply by saying, why yes,
yes I am, but I also have all the perfect reasons why any girl should be obsessed with Disney. Love.
Sacrifice. Song. Bravery. Silliness. Leadership. Dreams. Inspiration. Positivity. Selflessness. Strength.
Family. All the things that Disney has taught me growing up, which reminds me
Once upon a time, not too long ago, ten years ago to be exact, there was little girl who had all
sorts of imagination. She told story after story to her infant sister as she cradled her in her arms and
read to her stories such as; Jack and the Bean Stalk, The Princess and the Frog, Hansel and Gretel, and
Rumpelstiltskin. Every night the girl would read these stories to her infant sister, and keep on reading
even when her sister was fast asleep. The reasoning as to why she kept on reading? The little girl loved
the stories she told. She loved the adventure, excitement, and bravery within each page. She even
changed her voice for every character as to how she thought they would sound in real life as she read.
The stories were real to her. She believed that anything in these stories could truly happen in her own
life, but when the last word was spoken and there were no more pages to be turned, she closed the
book and realized they were just stories. Stories that were meant to be told until the end of time for all
children and even adults to hear.
As that little girl grew up she kept on reading more fairy tales, and kept on believing in love,
princes, princesses, heroes, magic, wizards, fairies, mermaids, and animals who talked. She would sit
around her desk and write her own fairy tales about a girl who did not know she was a princess because
something evil took her away from her parents, but eventually was found by a prince and slayed
whatever had taken her years before. All types of creatures and animals were in her stories, and in a lot
of cases, the girl in her own stories, was a lot like herself or someone she wanted to be. Perhaps an
older girl who was portrayed a lot in the fairy tales she read about?

The story still goes on, but the little girl is not little anymore. She now lives in a ten by ten room
tucked away in the tower of Moore near the town of Charlotte. For all that know her still catch her
watching movies about princesses, reading about fairy tales in the big book she brought to her new
home, wears clothes that symbolize her heroes, and still believes she is a princess. One day she hopes to
find her prince and ride off to great adventures with him, after she gets her doctorate of medicine, of
course.
The End.
Well, that is how my story goes, or to a certain extent. Fairy tales and Disney have impacted me
in more ways anyone could ever imagine. Not only have they impacted me in life, but also as a writer, a
reader, and a leader. The quotes I have written from the various Disney movies and stories are all words
I live by in my everyday life. They help me be a better person and helped me realize the kind of person I
want to be. All Disney movies possess a certain character who overcomes all obstacles whether it is
fighting for her country, not listening to the crowd, standing up for what she believes in, or looking past
the surface to discover something within. I have used every single one of these lessons in my life at a
certain point, and I am expecting to keep on using them. I am only nineteen. I still have many years of
dreaming lying ahead of me!
Dreaming. That is another huge reason as to why stories such as these ones have inspired me.
For as long as I can remember, I have always had big dreams and goals for myself. I recreate my dream
books all the time. My dream books are literally sheets of paper that have pictures I have sprawled onto,
lyrics I do not want to forget, and quotes that inspire me. A collection of dreams that I hope to someday
pursue. The song quote in Cinderella, If you keep on believing the dreams that you wish will come
true, are words I remind myself every day. I never stop believing in myself, and in great gratitude I
thank Disney for that, but I also thank my family who have also believed in me every step of the way.

Words. Songs. Writing and singing have always come easy to me. In all honesty, they are almost
like second nature. If I am not thinking of words I do not want to forget about, I am singing a song or
simply just singing words. Fact: when I do math homework I sing out the problems if I cannot find the
answer right away. Another fact: if I find a book I am reading to be boring for class or in general I will
sing every word to make it more amusing and likable. I guess I also have to give credit to Disney for
giving me this idea. I have always said that I wished my life was a musical. I want random people to start
singing and dancing the same thing without rehearsal, or a song that defines my life that I sing at
random outbursts when things are stuff like in The Little Mermaid when Ariel is in her cove of treasure. I
have always felt that song has helped me understand words. It helps me see the flow and magic within
the word. That is where I believe that words and song could change anything in the world. It takes
courage to open up your mouth and say what is on your mind. Disneys characters such as Mulan,
Rapunzel, and Pocahontas use song and words to do just that. I plan on doing the same.
Love. Family. In every Disney classic, there is importance to both love and family. A daughter
who takes the place of her imprisoned father, a gorilla becoming the mother of a human child, a father
letting his daughter go to be with her beloved, fairies keeping safe a small child until her eighteenth
birthday, and also a mother and father who accept their daughters differences. Of course, Disney also
portrays the troubles of family like in Snowhite and the Seven Dwarves and Cinderella, but those two
things are what creates a family. Moments of happiness and moments of hatred happen in families
every day around the world. My family by no means is a perfect one. I never see my two older brothers,
parents fight about absurd things, my uncle and grandpa are not speaking, and some of them are
alcoholic, while others are addicted to drugs. My dads parents are divorced, and some family members
never want to come to Christmas, Thanksgiving, or any other family gathering. These sort of things are
typical in families, some even worse than mine. I would say I am lucky to have this family because my
parents are still together after twenty years, I have three amazing younger siblings who I call best

Osborne 5
friends, my mom and I are practically inseparable, my dad works hard so we could have a great life, my
grandparents would do anything for us, and I have one of the largest families of cousins I have ever
heard of, and for the most part all of us love and support each other. Love, there is that word again.
Reading and watching Disney and other fairy tales have given me the true meaning of family. The
example on how I should act towards my siblings and how I show love to all of my relatives. I could even
say this love could go farther than family; all princesses need a prince and animal friends that is.
Growing up with all the voices and songs around me teaching me about life, following my
dreams, adventures, and love of family and friends have created the nineteen year old girl who still finds
herself looking to be swept away by her prince, but also finding the hero within herself. Along the way of
reading and watching about heroines, I found out my likes and dislikes not only in the things around me,
but in other literary works that have also played important roles in teaching me to create my own
destiny, identity, and dreams. I give a lot of credit to The Little Princess teaching me that I am the
storyteller of my life and I should believe in myself. I will not let anyone or anything stand in my way to
becoming who I want to be and where I want to go in my life. There is a quote from the novel I have
remembered that always stood out to me. The author writes, I am a princess. All girls are. Even if they
live in tiny old attics. Even if they dress in rags, even if they arent pretty, or smart, or young. Theyre still
princesses. This quote in itself helps me look at everything and everyone with beauty and respect as
everyone and everything should have.
Besides what Disney has given me and the inspiration it had on me to read more empowering
novels about heroic women, there has been many more novels like The Little Princesses that teach me
the same great lessons about being your own hero and following your heart. Novels such as, Pride and
Prejudice, The Lord of the Rings and Hobbit Trilogies, Mortal Instruments Series, Anthem, A Farwell to
Arms and a novel called The Night Road all have characters that I strive to be like. People who take
adventure into their own hands and make someone of themselves. They go beyond their limits. Many

Osborne 6
people cannot say they look up to characters from stories or novels, but I proudly would say that I do.
The way I can block everything out around me when I get into a good book, one that creates life on the
pages, is one of my favorite things to do in life. So, I will keep on believing in fairies, mermaids, and
happy endings. There is a reason why people back at home call me Cinderbella.
