Explain to children we will be researching and making notes on a
new wild animal to help us with practising finding and presenting
facts and notes. Recap: What is note making? Why do we do it?
______________________________________________________
Explain that the children will be using iPads to research a wild
animal of their choosing, and we will then use pic collage to present
and organise our facts.
First thing we need to do is choose an animal, give children one
minute to talk with a partner and decide which animal they will look
at; children must each choose one animal, we will not be working in
pairs. Animal they decide on must be a wild animal, not a pet (give
examples).
______________________________________________________
Ask the children what kind of things we might like to find out about
our animals. Write questions on the board.
Where do they live?
What do they eat?
How do they get their food?
Do they have babies or lay eggs?
What kind of animal is it?
How big/heavy does it grow?
______________________________________________________
Explain that we are going to use the internet to help us find the
answers to our questions. Recap how we search, what are the key
terms we need to put into our search bar?
Write a list of useful websites on the board:
National Geographic Kids Animals
Kids Biology Animals
Discovery Kids Animals
Science Kids Animal Facts
San Diego Zoo
Animal Fact Guide
Children must write important facts/notes onto their WBs using
research from the internet, ready for our pic collages that we will do
towards the end of the lesson.
i.e. Habitat Arctic
Diet Seals
Grow 10 feet tall
Babies Cubs
______________________________________________________
After children have gathered facts, they must use the internet to find
a few pictures of their chosen animal and save the pictures to the
iPad.
______________________________________________________

Bring class back together. Demonstrate pic collage using air server
briefly (children have used it before) and answer any questions.
Explain children must use their saved pictures and facts from their
WBs to create an image/poster about their chosen animal.
______________________________________________________
Plenary: Share some of the childrens work using air drop/air server.
