Tuesday, December 2 The Great Depression

Warm-up: What are some countries that you have been to in your life?
Game Plan:
1. Warm-up
2. Collect Permission Forms from students
3. Model/Discuss Great Depression lesson
Goals (Objectives):
1. Students will analyze countries around the world and compare and contrast the
difference between two countries economically, and historically.
2. Students will analyze their what they found amongst the countries and compare
it to the harsh times of the Great Depression.
Practice:
Procedure:
1. Greet students at the door
2. Give students time to settle in their seats/put things away
3. Students begin warm-up with teacher monitoring (4 minutes)
4. Review the answer to the warm-up as a class (3 minutes)
5. Movement of the Day: Involve student movement in some way (2 minutes)
6. Collect Student Permission forms: (5 minutes)
a. Model safety Internet procedures

Give an example of what the students should do.
b. Discuss how to use the Internet and the designated Website

Discuss how to complete the graphic organizer
7. Begin Lesson on Internet (25 minutes)
a. Split into pairs amongst the computer lab.
b. As a pair mutually agree on countries they want to explore
c. Complete Graphic Organizer with pairs

8. Discussion of what students found and how they can compare to life in the Great
Depression (5 minutes)
a. Bring class back together
b. Discuss the similarities and differences each group found (Show Pictures)

What makes your countries significant?
c. Overview of what we discussed as a class
9. Closure (2 minutes)
a. Acknowledge the different countries and how everyone at some point has to
deal struggles during a time and some can be extreme and some can be small.

1. Folder for Warm-up

3. Permission Slips
4. Graphic Organizers
Assessments:
Collection of all graphic organizers will be done at the end of the lesson to be
assessed. Students will be graded on completion and knowledge of other countries.
