The next morning, Dana got up and saw other children on their way to the arena.

Dana
grabbed her riding boots and followed them. Dana looked behind her and saw Melinda walking
next to a girl with long brown hair in pig tails and bows who did not leave Melindas side.
Hey girls! I am so glad you were able to make it to this camp. We are going to have so much
fun! Melinda said.
Dana wanted to be the girls friend and knew what she had to do. Dana remembered her
conversation with Blizzy and wanted to try to introduce herself. She got her chance when
Melinda had to go get the horses for the lesson today.
As Dana walked up to the girl, she remembered the story that Blizzy told her last night.
Dana thought, Just remember, eye contact, say Hi, introduce yourself, smile, and shake their
hand.
When Dana was in front of the girl, Dana took a deep breath and looked at the girl.
Hi, my name is Dana. What is your name?
My name is Katie the girl replied.
Dana stuck out her hand, and they shook hands. Dana smiled and then waited for Melinda to
return. Dana was so happy that she was able to introduce herself and could not wait to tell
Blizzy. Melinda saw Dana introduce herself and started clapping.
Dana! Great job introducing yourself to Katie! Melinda said and patted Dana on the shoulder.
Dana smiled and felt so good.
Alright girls! Each of you will have your own horse to care for and ride this week. It is your
responsibility to care for and love your horse Melinda explained and began assigning horses.
Dana saw that the last horse being led to the arena was Blizzy, and she was so excited.
Dana! You will ride Blizzy. Melinda said.
Yay! Dana said as she jumped up and down in excitement. She ran up to Blizzy and hugged
him. I have something to tell you Blizzy, you are going to be so proud of me! Dana said.
Everyone got on their horses and were allowed to have a free ride. Dana got on Blizzy, and they
rode to the other side of the stable.
What did you want to tell me Dana? Blizzy asked.
I did it Blizzy! I introduced myself to a girl named Katie. I like Katie and want to be her
friend. Dana said proudly.
This is great! I knew you could do it! Great job! Blizzy said.
Dana leaned over and wrapped her arms around Blizzys neck.
