Community & Family

involvement
During my student teaching I was a part of
Open House for my 4th grade classroom. At this
event I discussed classroom rules, and
requirements with parents. I also had individual
conversations with parents about their students
and how they were doing thus far. Although
nervous I was successful and none of the parents
were able to tell that I was a Student Teacher.
I also participated in several parent/teacher
conferences and IEP meetings in which I was
professional. I informed the parents of the
students strengths and areas he or she needed
improvement in.

Community & Family

involvement cont.
In my classroom we had a three-step
consequence plan. The first consequence was a
warning. The second was a time-out where they
worked at a desk separate from the class. The
third consequence was a note home. The student
had to verbally tell me what rules they broke read
through the document and sign it. The letter had to
be returned within 3 school days with their parent
or guardians signature. If students did not return
the letter signed they would receive a phone call
home and if necessary a RPC.
