What is the Melrose Veterans Memory Project?

The Melrose Veterans Memory Project is a group dedicated to:

documenting and preserving Melrose/local history,
especially as it related to military service and times of
military conflict;
raising awareness about and appreciation of the role of
Melrose residents in history, especially in the military;
increasing community involvement in recording and
preserving local history; and
supporting local organizations in their efforts to honor
those who have served.

Objectives:
1. Education

activities and programming to raise

awareness about veterans, military history,
etc.

2. Preservation

a. artifact collection, preservation,

archiving (physical, virtual)
b. memorial documentation, restoration,
upkeep

3. Outreach

a. connect students, community with local

veterans; preserve their stories, etc.
b. assist with veteran-related causes (care
packages, food drives, nursing
home/hospital visits, etc.)

 We have existed as a small community

group since 2007
As of this fall, we have filed all necessary
paperwork and have been officially
recognized as a charitable, non-profit
corporation in Massachusetts!
Next step: tax exempt status 501(c)(3)
