Vocabulary review and game: Sentence Auction. The class will quickly review
vocabulary from the text. Then the teacher will put example sentences from
vocabulary introduction lesson either on the board or on the projector screen. The
sentences will either have the correct word or an incorrect word (only the teacher
will know for sure). Students will be divided into teams and each team will receive
the same amount of play money. Teams will bid on a sentence that they feel is
correct. The team that wins the bid will have to surrender the amount that they bid.
The teacher will then reveal whether the sentence is correct or not. If the sentence is
correct, that team will receive points corresponding to the amount that they bid. If
the sentence is incorrect the team will receive no points and they do not get their
money back. The team with the most points at the end wins. This can be played in
multiple rounds.
