Thanksgiving Sensory Poem

Rationale:

The purpose of this lesson is to help


students to practice writing a poem
with a holiday sensory detail.

Materials/Equipment:

Thanksgiving Sensory Poem paper


Scratch paper
Pencil

1. Can anybody tell me what holiday it on this month (November)?


What do we do on this month of November?
Process: (Plan how you will teach the lesson. Break the material into very small steps
and write out each step.)

1. Gather the kids around in the sharing circle, and talk about
Thanksgiving. Talk to them what goes on during their Thanksgiving.
2. Talk to the class about poems. Poetry can be anything you want it to
be.
3. Share the activity Thanksgiving Sensory Poem (I.E: They fill in the
blanks the statement, On Thanksgiving I see..).

4. The students go back to their seats and begin their first draft of

they can begin on their poem.
6. Gather the students together to share each others poem.
