3 REPAIR CRITERIA
Determining the repair criteria involves three steps:

Identification

Determining allowable damage

Repair

In the identification step, we identified the type of metal and thickness of the damaged part
by using visual inspection. The next step would be to research allowable damage and
determine whether the damage such as cracks, gouges, and dents.
The inspection includes an estimate of the best type and shape of repair patch to use ; the
type, size and number of rivets needed ; and the strength, thickness, and kind of material
required to make the repaired member no heavier (or only slightly heavier) and Just as strong
as the original. Finally, if damage is beyond acceptable limits, a repair needs to be done.
