Introduction

Introduction
The purpose of this feasibility study is to inform the average University of North Texas student
of the best generic soda. This feasibility study is based on the brands price, smell, calories, and
distance from campus to purchase product. The topic of this study is to identify the best bargain
when comparing generic soda. The team is aware how much college students drink soda and the
generic sodas are considerable cheaper. Many college students are budget conscious and the
team feels that this would be of considerable value for our classmates and other fellow college
students. The generic sodas that are considered in this report are Shur Fine (Sack N Save), Super
Chill (Albertsons), Sams Cola (Sams Club), and Big K (Kroger). There was a large
discrepancy between the generic soda brands and the team was able to establish important
deciding factors between them. This feasibility report contains several bar charts that make it
easy to see the comparisons between all the soda brands based on the categories of price, smell,
calories and convenience.

The price for Big K was $0.89 a two liter compared to the other brands used ranking second.

Smell
Among the participants that engaged in the study they all agreed that Big K smelled like Coke
and Dr. Pepper mixed.

Taste
There were seven participant that participated in the taste test study and here are the opinion they
gave.

Participant 4: Flat after taste
Participant 5: Tasted good at beginning, but left a flat taste at the end

The calorie listed on the Big K two liter were 110 per serving which tied for second in ranking.

Based on the distance from the campus Kroger is approximately 1.94 miles.

The price for Big K brand was $0.89 per 2 liter bottle. This ranked 2th among in terms of price.
Considering the high marks for the other categories the teams feels this was a bargain.
The price for Sam Cola brand was $0.84 per 2 liter bottle. This ranked 1st among in terms of
price. Considering the high marks for the other categories the teams feels this was a bargain.
The price for Super Chill brand was $1.29 per 2 liter bottle. This ranked 4th among in terms of
price. Considering the high marks for the other categories the teams feels this was a bargain.
The price of the Shur Fine brand was $1.09 per 2 liter bottle. This ranked 4th in terms of price.
Considering the low marks for the other categories, the team feels this is disappointing. The
team feels that the price is much high than it should

Smell
Big K ranked 3rd in the smell category. The soda had a Dr. Pepper and Coke smell. All
participates liked the smell. It was by far one the better smelling sodas that was tested. The
team recommends drinking it.
Sam Cola ranked 2nd in the smell category. The participants were split on the smell. Some
agreed it smell like Coke and Dr. Pepper while others thought it smelled like RC cola. Most of
team agreed the soda had a great smell to it. If this soda is to be drank, the team recommends
definitely drinking it.
Super Chill ranked 1st in the smell category. The participants agreed the cola smelled like a coke.
Shur Fine ranked 4th which was dead last in the smell category. The soda had a terrible smell
and was disliked by all participates. Most of team thought that the soda smelled like bad
medicine. It was by far the worst smelling sodas of all that was tested. If this soda is to be
drank, the team recommends trying to not smell it

Taste
Big K brand came in 3rd in the category of taste. Most participants described the taste as flat.
One participant thought it had a good taste at the beginning but left a flat taste at the end.
Another participant thought it tasted like Coke. The team recommends drinking this while cold
to take some of the flat taste away.
Sam Cola brand came in 2nd in the category of taste. Most participants agreed the cola taste like
diet cola. One participant thought the cola didnt have enough fizz in it taste.
Super Chill brand came in 1st in the category of taste. All the participants agreed this was the
most refreshing drink. If it wasnt for the label, the team would have thought it was a coke.

The Shur Fine brand came in last in the category of taste. Most participants described the taste
as horrible. Many also compared the taste of this soda to the taste of bad medicine. The team
would avoid tasting this brand if at all possible

Calories
Big K brand was tied 2nd in calories of all the sodas that were tested. At 110 calories per serving
this brand was only 10% higher in calories than the leading brand. This was minimal to the team
especially considering some high it received in other categories.
Sam Cola brand ranked the lowest in calories of all the sodas that were tested. At 100 calories
per serving this seemed excessively low to the team especially considering it received high
marks in taste and smell.
Super Chill brand was tied 2nd with Big K in calories of all the sodas that were tested. At 110
calories per serving was only 10% higher in calories than the leading brand. This was minimal to
the team considering it was the highest ranked.
The Shur Fine brand ranked the highest in calories of all the sodas that were tested. At 160
calories per serving this brand was at least 30% higher in calories than any other brand. This
seemed excessively high to the team especially considering the low marks in all the other
categories for this brand.

Distance
Big K is a Kroger product. Kroger is just located off campus and makes it convenient in terms
of location. This brand finished 3rd in the category of distance at 1.94 miles from campus.
Sam Cola is a Wal-Mart product. Wal-Mart is located about 1.81 miles off campus. This is
convenient for students in terms of location. This brand finished 2nd in terms of distance from
campus.
Super Chill is an Albertsons product. Albertson is located 2.71 from campus. This is convenient
for students in terms of location. This brand finished 4th in terms of distance from campus.
The Shur Fine is a Sack N Save product. Sack N Save has a location just off campus and that
makes it the most convenient in terms of location. This brand finished 1st in the category of
distance at 1.14 miles from campus.

Recommendations

Recommendations
Our team recommend Albertsons brand Super Chill. The distance and price were ranked low,
but the taste will be worth it. The calories are tolerable and the taste is wonderful. If it werent
for the label, people would think Super Chill was a real Coke Cola.
