Self Assessment and Reflection Assignment

Ms. Jackie Shank
September 22, 2014
The self-assessment assignment has had a great assistance in understanding my
strengths and weaknesses. The strengths that my personality entails is the power of being
outspoken, expressing my individuality, and being well organized. Although, my
weaknesses consist of being too nice and never knowing when to say no. I tend to put
others before myself, and this can impact my own personal feelings tremendously. This
assignment has showed me that I can fix my weaknesses and nothing is permanent.
Furthermore, to assist my strengths and weakness as an upcoming professional the
first test I took was Big Five Personality Test. The results necessitated were showing
that I am extroverted, preferring the company of others rather than spending time alone.
The test explained an extrovert are stimulated by being around others, are often
considered outgoing, and have no problem talking to strangers. Pondering over these
results, I would agree that I am definitely an extrovert. I enjoy communicating with others
and being very social; I have no problem talking to strangers and being around a group of
people. This is one of my best attributes that most of my friends and family compliment
me on.
Next, the Concentration and Focus Test was one of the test I was most unsure of
how I would score. The results concluded that I use many strategies to help me
concentrate on certain task. Also, I have a little difficulty getting started on and
completing tasks on the rare occasion, but for the most part, I know what to do to help me
stay focused. After reading these results, I could definitely agree this fits my personality. I
am a very dedicated person and am very focused on certain tasks that I have to get done.
On occasion, I will have those days were it is hard to stay focused and distractions get the
best of me.
Furthermore, the next test I took was the Fitness IQ Test. The reason of taking
this test is due to the great passion in sports and the enjoyment I get from fitness in
general. Coming into the nutrition and dietetics major, I wanted to pursue sports nutrition.
The fitness IQ test made me very curious in the results I would receive. The results
determined that I have a good grasp on fitness knowledge, but are a little hazy on the
details. This has brought great motivation in my mental abilities to do more research and
find the necessary information of the proper knowledge to optimize the fitness world.
In addition, the next test I completed was the Left Brain/Right Brain Test. The
results illustrated that both of my hemispheres work together and one does not dominate
the other. My right brain brings my personality to be spontaneous, impulsive, and freeflowing. On the other hand, my left brain allows me to break things down and make an

informed and sensible decision. After reading these results I positively feel my
personality has this unique and well-balanced me. This is a definite and most vital
strength that I possess; I am able to plan and schedule myself while throwing in a little
spontaneity. With this balance, I am able to understand myself and life in all different
perspectives.
The last and final test I accomplished was the Nutrition IQ Test. This test was
extremely difficult and I was very surprised on how in depth the questions were. The final
results I received was a 75 out of a 100. The comments said, You seem to know most of
your nutrition facts and generally understand the importance of eating well, but there is
still a little room for improvement. These observations made me happy to know that I
am learning a lot in this major and my focus skills in my studying habits are paying off.
Lastly, the personality style that I believe most fits me is ESFJ. The reason why I
chose this personality was because of the characteristics and blind spots seemed to have
fit me the best compared to the other personality styles. My final decision on this
personality was made because of the blind spot that said, Hard to give or accept
constructive criticism. I am a very emotional person and care a lot about others feelings
and have high standards for myself. I am a perfectionist and want to make other people
proud of my work. Because of this particular blind spot it sold me on the personality style
ESFJ.

Objective: I am seeking to get the credential of a DTR and possibly pursue to become an
RD in the next 3 years.
