HOW DO WE GET INVOLVED

TO STOP MINORITY
DISCRIMINATION
Discrimination must end with us; similarly,
to stop it wholly involves everyones active
participation. Here are some of the ways
this evil acts against minorities can be
solved:

Be tolerant and open minded to the

values and cultures of others.
Fight against deprivation of
promotion of identity, the right to
effective participation and
existence.
Be an active member of local,
nationwide, and worldwide
organizations promoting equality.
Imag

Yet the very people who oppressed them are

the ones who enjoy the services and skills
minorities provide.
Minority issues have been on the agenda of the
United Nations for more than sixty years. It
has been declared by the UN General
Assembly that United Nations could not
remain indifferent to the fate of minorities.
Moreover, UN General Assembly on its
meeting in 1992 declared that minorities have
all the rights an individual is entitled to:

INJUSTICE
AGAINST
MINORITY

*right to enjoy his/her own culture

*to profess and practice his/her own religion
*to use his/her own language
The above-mentioned declaration reaffirms the
right of persons belonging to minorities to
enjoy all human rights and fundamental
freedoms in accordance with the principles of
non-discrimination and equality before law.

What should you do to

stop it from happening?

In the lips of former United States president

Franklin D. Roosevelt came this following
famous intelligent remark:

Be an aggressive defender of
human rights.
Use all forms of social media to
bring attention to the evils of
discrimination.
Get minorities organized and be
involved in local government
affairs.
Educate minorities on how to
handle discriminations against
them without the involvement
of violence.

No democracy can long

survive which does not
accept as fundamental to its
very existence the
recognition of the rights of
minorities.
Another famous statesman, Henry David
Thoreau, coined this remark about the
sufferings of minorities:
A MINORITY IS
POWERLESS WHILE IT
CONFORMS TO THE
MAJORITY; IT IS NOT
EVEN A MINORITY THEN;
BUT IT IS IRRESISTIBLE
WHEN IT CLOGS BY ITS
WHOLE WEIGHT.
Minorities are powerful if they are united
and well organized.
