2013 VT YOUTH RISK BEHAVIOR SURVEY (YRBS)

Brief Overview
The YRBS is a self-reported
and voluntarily survey
administered every two years in
the middle and high schools in
Vermont and many states around
the country.

There are two different types of surveys:

1. The middle school survey: 6th-8th grades.
6th grade students attending K-8th schools are not
invited to participate in this survey.
This survey does not includes questions of
sexuality.
2. The high school survey: 9th-12th grades.

2013 VT YOUTH RISK BEHAVIOR SURVEY (YRBS)

Please keep in mind that,
The data is weighted this year, meaning that through a mathematical
computation all responses are included to reflect even comparisons and
generate the Statewide reports.
This year, all results are compared to the State and will be reported
as:
Statistically higher than the State,
Statistically lower than the State
The results indicate current level of behaviors and suggest of those
who may follow. However, there is no information as to why students
engage in these risky behaviors.
It is a self-reported students survey and there are more than 100
check points throughout the survey to revalidate the consistency and
legitimacy of the students responses.
