Cyberbullying is Everywhere

dictionary, cyberbullying is the use of electronic postings of mean
-spirited messages
about a person (as a
student) that is often
done anonymously. This has become a
major issue over the
past decade as the use
of technology has started at a younger age
every year. As younger
children take to the
internet, they find it
easier to be mean to
people because there
is no immediate repercussion and the whole
anonymous factor
plays a huge part as
well. The younger children do not realize that
once you put something on the internet, it

music to create video presentations. You can go to their

and create a free account.

PowerPoint
This month is Technology
month at Johnstone Elementary school. We are taking a
look at the different technologies available to us to use
in the classroom, whether it
be for a presentation or for
instructions or for a lecture.
We challenge you to take a
look at and participate in
some of these technologies
so you can see exactly how
your students are learning.
Two of the more popular
technologies are PowerPoint
and Prezi. PowerPoint is a
Microsoft office software
program designed to create
electronic presentations
consisting of different slides

Prezi is a cloud based
presentation software and
storytelling tool used for
presenting ideas virtually.
Prezi is a little harder to
navigate but has a lot of the
same features. You can
choose different templates
as your background and font
and font color. The layout of
a Prezi is different that PowerPoint thought. Instead of
having different slides, Prezi

A digital citizenship
pledge is something that
is used to help the
teachers, parents and
students have a better
understanding of the
proper way to use the
internet and the sources
it has to offer. There is
usually a pledge for the
students to sign and a
separate pledge for the
parents to sign. The
student pledge is more

use good sources on the
internet and to ask an
adult if they are unsure
of a website, to treat

get the parents involved.
