3. Stalins methods of control.

a. What was the Great Purge? How would Stalins use of this action increase his
power?
The great purge is a campaign used to terror directed to eliminate anyone who threats him
power.

b. What was Pravda? How did Stalin explain the purpose of art in the USSR?
It was a newspaper. And it was wrote that it was used to show massive positive initiative
heroic actions.

c. What is an atheism? How did Stalin use atheism to influence his control over his
citizens?
Spread of propaganda attacking religion. Because the police started to destroy things that
is was giving terror to all of the citizens.

4. Stalins control over the economy.


a. What is a command economy? A system where the government makes all of the

b. Stalins Five Year Plans- He made impossible goals to get more supplies like oil, coal,
steal and electricity.
1. Purpose The purpose was for them to get more supplies and a lot of the supplies was in
great amounts of the supplies and to make them industrialized.

2. Results? They didnt get there goal but the amounts of supplies they got went up a lot
before what they had when the 5 years started. And people started to lose a lot of thing
likes food and clothes but the steal percent went up 25%.

c. What methods did Stalin use to bring agriculture under state control? They took
control of the farms and made people give food to the state.

d. Kulaks - Who were they? It was a class of wealthy peasants.

1. How did they create a problem for Stalin? They destroyed all of the crops instead of
the giving them to the government.

2. How did he solve the problem? They took all of them on to a field and held them with a
bayonet and around 5 to 10 million died
