Timeslot
In a few sentences, state what day during the week and at what time during the day that you
would like this program to air. Explain why your show is perfect for the day and time you
choose.
The timeslot would not matter, but the best timeslot would be about 7:00pm as it is one of the
most common times the target audience would tune in. Since the content is appropriate (Rated
PG most likely) then it shouldnt be forced to be aired too late.

Fundraising and Show Budget

In this section, you will have to estimate how much money you will need for your Pilot episode
(the first episode of your show). This will be used to set the baseline average for the amount of
money needed to produce an entire season.
Music
What music will be featured as part of the show? Will it feature songs that already exist or will
you hire a specific musician to record new music for the show? Below list the artist, three songs
by that artist, and a short explanation as to why that song will be used for this particular show.

Song Title
Washed Up

Anne-Marie McDermott

Is this who I am?

Anne-Marie McDermott

Suki Desu Forever

Anne-Marie McDermott

Justification
Washed Up will be the main theme used
at the title sequence and at the end
credits. Lyrics will be in Japanese. Sung
by Mariko Nakatsu, the second main
character.
This will be an inspirational, more upbeat
piano tune. It will possibly feature some
basic drum beat, and is great for
whenever the characters are excited
and/or inspired. It will be an instrumental
This is a sad and minor piano song. It
will be used mainly for when the
character goes through a sad flashback,
or encounters a tragic event.

Stars for Important Roles

What three stars will you be hiring to play key roles in your show? List the characters they will
play and why they are the perfect choice for those roles.
Star
Mariko Nakatsu

Character
Mizuki

Justification
Mariko Nakatsu has voice acted
in other Anime shows, one of
which features a character very
similar to Mizuki (the character in
this series). Her happy and
entertaining voice, along with her
ability to use a very emotional
and sad tone, display the vide
variety of emotions that the
character she would play will
display.

Yoshitsugu Matsuoka

Hikaru

Karen Strassman

Store Clerk (Akari)

Yoshitsugu starred in arguably

one of the best Anime shows
ever created (Sword Art Online)
so not only would people want to
view this program because of
him, but his range of emotions
while voice acting mostly
focuses around calm, collected
behavior, Shocked/sad, and
happy. These are the largest 3-4
emotions our main character will
share. The characters he voiceacts for are of similar
personalities.
Karen is an American voice
actor and has recording voicings
for literally hundreds of shows
and video games. Her character
Yasuko in Toradora is a good
example of the character she will
play in this anime. A happy,
worn out, cheery, mother-figure.

Commercial Sponsorship
Name three products or services that will be running commercials during your show. Keep in
mind that the commercials should be for things that appeal to you identified Target Audience.
Product or Service
Gibson Guitars

Reebok

Five-Star

Justification / Relationship to Show

Since the show is about a teen and his guitar, Gibson; a company
that loves to advertise its guitars, would be a proper and relevant
company to advertise.
Reebok will have everything from clothes to back-packs. Their
variety of products displays a lot of items that are in the show. It is
relevant and they are a large company.
Five-Star is a school equipment company and since this shows
setting will revolve around school quite a bit, it would be relevant
and also a possibility for product placement.

TV Show Promotion
How will use the media to promote your show? (Examples could be Late Night TV, social
media, daily talk shows, Radio interview) Identify three strategies and why they would be
particularly effective in generating interest in your particular show.
Strategy
Internet (E-Ads)

Word of Tongue (Buzz)

Television Advertisement

Justification
Having links and commercials play on other anime sites will
immediately grab anime-loving viewers. Since the amount of
anime is limited, especially ones with good art style, there
will be an immediate attraction to this show. This could also
be posted on YouTube as a pre-video advert.
While taking my (our) time slowly with the development,
when it is released, it should be an almost unparalleled
quality. We are relying on people who enjoy the show to
spread word about it. Since people who enjoy Anime often
bring new animes up as a topic.
We would find a television show that airs anime and create a
30 second commercial that would be played in between
other anime shows. Since the art style in our anime is being
the major strength; it should grab lots of viewers attentions
and possibly even dwarf their interest in the one they were
watching.

Immediate Competition
Describe one or two other shows that you will have to compete with in order to build your
audience. How will your show be different (or better)?
Three major anime shows that compete directly with this one include: Sword Art Online,
Sakurasou no pet na Kanojo, and Accel World. These 3 are popular anime that are not mainstream. If you exclude shows like Naruto, Bleach, etc. There is a small pool of quality anime
shows. To compete with the shows above, we will not only take our time with the art, but also
with the script; doing our best to churn emotions with every episode. Most anime have either
one or the other; art or story, but this one will be carefully thought out to have both. The only
shows that rival in terms of plot and art are the ones listed above. They are all good shows, but
this one will be better because its emotional attachment will be emphasized much more than
the other shows.
Promotional Poster
Design a poster that will be used to create buzz for your show. The poster should be
provocative (yet still acceptable for public places). This can be hand drawn by an artist or
designed using Photoshop. The poster should feature a banner, a tagline, and when and
where your show will air.

Place your finished poster here:

Toy Promotion
In the space below, describe a couple of potential toy ideas that would spin-off from your show
(e.g., action-figures, dolls, vehicles). Why would these sell well (assuming your show is a
success)?
Hiakru Jacket
The main character is going to be wearing a unique Japanese influence style of jacket that he
will keep throughout the series. Since it will be unique compared to other styles; the potential for
selling will be high. For example, the average anime cosplay jacket/trench coat sells for about
$150 a piece. This one will be aimed to be cheaper, without risking quality.

Hikaru Guitar
If we find a company that can produce guitars, we would sell cheap, low-quality guitars that are
virtually identical to the main character of our shows.

Hikaru Bike
One of the items Hikaru will buy throughout the series will be a unique portable bike. It will be
foldable in half and is lightweight. It also has the feature to be worn like a back-pack. This wil be
a more expensive item, but will still sell; especially in the home-country of anime, Japan, where
population in cities is dense and this bike would be convenient.

Pilot Episode
In a few sentences, tell the producers what the first episode will be about. You should mention
some of your characters above and what the main conflict of the episode will be.
(A script of the first part of the pilot episode will be attached.)
Episode Summary:
Main character starts with a flashback recapping the past few weeks that led up to him
being kicked out of his house by his father. Right from the beginning of the episode the serieswide problem arises; poverty in winter. The main character is given only $500 to live off of. He
goes to a store and makes a guitar purchase from a clerk that will eventually become a
secondary character and a mother-figure to Hikaru (in future episodes). After this he

immediately leaves the town where his parents live and arrived somewhere miles away in a
relatively developed city. Upon exiting the train he accidentally bumps into a pretty girl and
helps collect the schoolbooks she dropped. After a day, Hikaru finds a new ally to call home and
a plaza where he begins doing the only thing he knows how to; playing guitar. The girl from the
train is on her way to school when she walks past the plaza and is surprised at how good Hikaru
is at the instrument. They exchange a quick conversation where Hikaru reveals that he doesnt
go to school. He finds out the girls name is Mizuki and the first half of the episode ends with
Hikaru preparing to meet the girl after her school ends.
Later that day, Mizuki returns to the plaza to meet Hikaru. She sits beside him and
listens to him play, but also strikes up another conversation. She asks Hikaru where he lives
and he snaps a bit. He becomes angry and yells at her. She gets scared of him a bit and
apologizes for asking something personal like that. Mizuki runs away, shocked by the response
to her question. Hikaru regrets snapping and returns to his home in the ally and sleeps the night
away. The next morning, the main character sits on the fountain ledge where Mizuki had sat
beside him. He tries to play his guitar, but goes through another flashback that reflects that he
snaps when hes put under pressure. His mind starts to trail about losing his home and he
begins to cry; clenching his teeth, trying to fight it. The girl from the other day (Mizuki) walks by
and sees him crying. She walks up to him, slightly hesitant with fear, but takes a seat obviously
farther apart from him that the previous day. She asks if he is okay. He responds saying that
hell be fine and that he was just missing some loved ones. She understands that he doesnt
want to go into detail and tries to comfort him. With a smile she asks if he wants to walk to
school with her. He agrees and throws the guitar strap over his shoulder. They talk on the way
to school. When he arrives she says goodbye, but all of the students nearby were looking at
Hikaru with a lot of surprise. He finds out later that the girl he met is a high-class, popular, rich,
and beautiful 3rd year student. Hikaru looks down at the ground. Mizuki places her hand on his
shoulder and tells him to smile. She smiles right after. Mizuki goes on to say you better be
there after school! and with that, he leaves. The camera quickly shows him walking away just
as he puts on a small smile.
End part of the episode begins. Hkaru meets the girl again after school and they go for a
walk. Hikaru apologizes for his outburst the other day. The girl tries to say it was her fault for
asking something personal, but he apologizes again. He says he will show her where he lives.
They walk to the ally where Hikaru sleeps and the girl quickly understands. She confirms that he
lives in the ally; eyes wide open in surprise. Hikaru says yes and she immediately runs up and
hugs him. She grips tightly in sympathy and explains that she understands now. She says she
wants to show him something and they walk to a sidewalk along a large water bay as the sun
sets. She points out at the sky and from across the large bay, fireworks start going off. They
hop over the fence and lay on the snowy shore that rims along the bay. After a few hours they
get up and walk to her house. Upon arrival, Hikaru is surprised at how expensive the house
must be and how large and beautiful it is. He is about to say goodbye, but she says for him to
wait there for a second. She runs inside and after a quick minute runs out and grabs his hand.
She starts to run into the house with him. He is taken by surprise and asks whats going on. She

says that he was going to stay there overnight and the episode ends with a close up of her face
with her saying Tomorrow, youre going to school!
