Teacher Dispositions
1.

Believes that all children can learn

All children certainly can learn. Each child has their own way of learning. As a
teacher in a classroom of diverse learners, I would be responsible for knowing all
my students. Once I know them I can modify my lessons that fir the culture of my
classroom and create activities to engage all different styles of learning.

2.

Embraces and celebrates differences in learning styles, and values

diversity and personal identity.
To attain greater opportunities for learning in a class, a class should be diverse.
Differentiating lessons by learning styles help make the environment for learning
more attractive to diverse learners. The way to reach a child in class should not
be scripted but spontaneous, autonomous and engaging.

3.

Embraces responsibilities and duties associated with democracy

The classroom will be our classroom. Students will have a chance to voice
concerns, opinions, and idea about their learning environment. Rules will apply to
all, consequences will apply to all, praise and noteworthy will apply to all. I will
devise a room design that gives students full access to resources of the
classroom in a structured format. Learning centers, comfy corners, seating
arrangements and teachers desk will be considered in this design.

4.

Evaluates and reflects on professional practice to make informed decisions

regarding the use of technology in support of student learning and
considers the social, ethical, legal and human issues surrounding the use
of technology in the PK-12 schools and applies those principles in practice.
As a teacher I will become well informed on the use of technology in the
classroom. Technology makes learning more engaging. The internet is a large
forum where materials are at your fingertips yet they need to be carefully
scanned. As a teacher when choosing material from the internet I will scan and
research the source prior to using it. I will make sure the technology carefully
aligns with learning and common core standards. Prior to using material in the
classroom I will obtain all the necessary authorizations from administration and
parents in order to make sure the material is appropriate for use.

5.

Approaches intellectual pursuits with integrity and open-mindness, and

values education theory and research to reflect productively on one's own
practice
Being familiar with the work of theorist such as Dunn, Gardner, and Dewey would
be a resource I would use in my classroom. I will always look for opportunities to
use their models in my classroom. I place tremendous value on knowledge and I

will continue to enhance my understanding of educational practices and

strategies by attending workshops that I can use in my classroom.
6.

Values and nurtures students' intellectual and social growth, and the
pursuit of wisdom
Placing a value on the growth of your students is important for their learning and
self-esteem. In the classroom focusing on positive behavior rather than on the
negative creates an expectation that all positive behavior will be acknowledged.
When marking a test, providing thoughtful messages and pointing out what was
done right without using a red pen will provide assurance in the student that I
would like to see his/her do the things I suggested in order to do better next time.
Creating social clubs and/or a social hour that incorporates the academic subject
will help my students with social growth while nurturing a pedagogical growth.

7.

Assumes appropriate risk in advocating for students and others, and

reflects on professional practice to make informed decisions regarding the
support of student learning
As a teacher I am a mandated reporter. I will always put my students first. In the
event that a situation at home or school is impeding a students ability to learn I
will fully advocate for him or her to the extent of my professional ability. I will be
able to note immediate changes in behavior in my students because I will make it
a priority to get to know them as individuals as much as possible.

8.

Demonstrates enthusiasm and passion for teaching and learning, and

commitment to students and their learning
Many have told me that I am very nurturing and seem very comfortable in the
classroom. I believe I am this way because I am a mother and foster in my own
children passion and enthusiasm in their learning, extracurricular activities and in
every endeavor. I encourage all young learners to be passionate through my
teaching techniques by using personal stories, hands on activities, songs and
even role playing. It is my hope that these teaching techniques will create a
lasting impression on learners.

9.

Values assessment, which includes analysis and reflection as a means to

improve effective practice
In my demo lessons I took into great consideration my supervisors and
cooperating teachers recommendations. I worked on improving in my second
lesson and the progress was noted. I feel that in teaching and everything else in
life there is always room for improvement. Positive criticism will always be
welcomed because it will make one step closer to being a better teacher.

10.

Celebrates respect for self, family, educative institutions and community;

values and encourages independence and community including a spirit of
cooperation; and, embraces and sustains a safe and nurturing learning
environment

In the classroom I am a role model. I will conduct myself in a positive and

appropriate manner as my students will model my behavior. I will make a great
effort to great a bridge between the home and school where as I can share
student progress, concern, announcements and suggestions with my students
family. I will establish an effective way of communicating with parents by being
accessible through email or phone. I will use my ability to speak Spanish for my
ELL learners in order to make families comfortable with communication. In the
classroom I will attempt to celebrate diverse cultures while being careful with
promoting stereotypes and using effective teaching tools such as stories and
virtual fieldtrips to promote a culture that will culminate in a project on diverse
cultures. I will make an effort to attend board meetings and dialogue with families
so that they are aware of my interest in their childs learning.
