Writing Prompt: Unit 2

Think about the informational texts you have been reading in class. Based on your best
thinking, what is a central idea expressed in one or more of these texts.?

Write an essay in which you discuss the development of one central idea you have
identified in the text(s) youve been studying. Begin by selecting from the quotes that
we worked with in class. Explain the meaning of the quote. Then take a stance on the
quote. Do you agree or disagree? Next considering the central idea that is presented in
each article, select passages from multiple articles that support your stance. Lastly,
provide your own personal experience or observation that supports why you feel this
way. Use relevent facts, concrete details, quotations, and/or other information to
develop your ideas. Be sure to give your essay a conclusion.
