I. Objectives After a 45-minute class the students must be able: A. To discuss the three passions Bertrand Russell lived for; B. To determine what type of essay Three Passions I Have lived For is; C. To give three most important things that they value in life; D. To interpret the essay of Bertrand Russell in any of the following : a. Compose a song b. Choreograph an interpretative dance c. Make a newsletter d. Make an electronic interpretation using Ms Paint or Adobe. II. Subject Matter Topic: Three Passions I Have lived For by Bertrand Russell Reference: DepEd English Expressways IV, Wikipedia.com, YouTube.com Materials: Projector, Laptop , Slideshow Presentation, Short Video Clip
III. Procedure
A. Review Teacher will conduct a short review of the lesson yesterday about the 4 Types of Essay.
B. Motivation The students will play an instructional game called 4 pics 1 word. Here the students will be given three sets of pictures each set has 4 pictures that have 1 commonality to each other. The students will guess the word and if they guess the word they`ll move on to the next set of pictures. The answers to the game are related to the essay that the students will read.
C. Lesson Proper A. Pre-viewing The students will share their assignments to the class about the biography of Bertrand Russell. The students will unlock some vocabulary words B. Viewing Students will watch a documentary video about the essay Three Passions I Have lived For by Bertrand Russell.
C. Post-viewing Students will answer the following guide questions 1. What are the three passions Bertrand Russell Lived for? 2. What do you think of his view about love? 3. Why do you think he said that Love and knowledge, so far as they were possible, led upward toward the heavens. But always pity brought me back to earth.? 4. What type of Essay is the essay of Bertrand Russell?
D. Generalization The teacher will ask the students to give the morale of the essay. IV. Evaluation Make an interpretation of the essay of Bertrand Russell through any of the following: 1. Compose a song. Record yourself singing the song you composed and uploaded it in Youtube. 2. Choreograph an interpretative dance. Record yourself and upload it on Youtube. Could be done by group maximum of 4 members. 3. Make a short newsletter or journal using Ms Publisher about the essay of Bertrand Russell. You could include topics like letter to the author, reflection paper and your passions in life too. Minimum of 7 articles. Maybe by group maximum of 3 members. 4. Illustrate your passions in life using Microsoft Paint or Adobe. V. Assignment 1. Make an advance reading of the next topic about Rhetorical devices. 2. Cut or search 5 articles that use any of the rhetorical devices.
