NEEDS ASSESMENT

SUMMARY
A needs assessment was done to assess the needs of the community in Fresno-Visalia, California for both
individuals and as a community. Specific considerations were given to the disabled community, with an
emphasis on war veterans. The needs assessment set out to determine what exactly the facility should
accomplish; the following questions were posed to members of the community:
1. How satisfied are you with the current facility options in the Fresno-Visalia area?
2. Where are the services most lacking at those facilities?
3. If you could ask for one thing in a new facility what would it be?
4. How much of a facility should be designed for Fitness/Leisure and how much of the facility should be
designed for sport?
5. What program offerings would you most want from a new facility?

CONCLUSIONS
After speaking with a demographically diverse panel of more than thirty members of the community our
group came up with some critical conclusions about the needs of the community:
First and foremost, it became evident that despite the community featuring a multitude of Fitness
Centers, there does not appear to be a facility that adequately addresses the needs of the community;
in particular, there is the general feeling that not enough is being done for the disabled veterans pre-
sent in the community.
In addition to being a ADA compliant facility that accommodates the needs of the disabled, the com-
munity seemed to share the opinion that the facility needed to be balanced in terms of Fitness/
Leisure and Sport; this was the initial plan for the facility and these results only reaffirmed that opin-
ion.
There was not a consistent response in terms of what program offerings were a necessity, and there-
fore it is essential for the facility to offer a multitude of programs and sports (including virtual
sports/activities) that cater to these diverse interests and needs.

RECOMMENDATIONS
Following the completion of the needs assessment it is our recommendation to continue developing the
facility as planned to accommodate a diverse community both in terms of demographics, physical abili-
ties, and interests. It will be the goal of the facility to fill the obvious needs of the community in terms of
an All-Inclusive facility that will provide all the services required of the community in a central location.

Fundraising:
Apply for a grant from the Wounded Warrior Project to help support
our wounded veterans at VFF

Each year Wounded Warrior Project

(WWP) evaluates applications

from organizations that seek to enhance the lives of post 9-11 wounded
veterans through programmatic activities aimed at improving mental
health and wellness, exposing warriors to new opportunities for physical
fitness and activity, connecting wounded veterans with their peers, and
enhancing economic empowerment and independence among wounded
veterans all in an effort to help foster healthy readjustment to civilian
life.
Interested organizations completed a letter of interest and were sub-
sequently invited to submit a full application. Those receiving funds were
chosen based on shared mission, core values, and focus in WWPs four
core programmatic areas: mind, body, economic empowerment, and en-
gagement.

Though the grant program, WWP has funded 45 different organizations,
totaling more than $3 million.
WWPs 18 programs and services provide much needed support for
injured service members, offering a strong foundation for their recovery.
There are many great organizations that provide unique and highly spe-
cialized services that we want to help make more widely available, Nard-
izzi said. Many of these groups have limited funding and offer important
specialized services while others provide programs to underserved areas
of the country.

Teaser:
Fresno, CA March 19, 2013 Most people dont realize that theyre walking around with a personal fitness coach right in their pocket or
purse. Valley Forge Fitness, the new location to gain exciting fitness experience, has announced the arrival of the free VFF mobile app. The
app provides users the ability to automatically track calories burned, access custom workouts, access manual strength tracking and GPS,
connect with VFF on social networks, along with many more features.
The VFF app is an extension of the brands VFF website, VFF.com, which allows users to choose their preferred workouts, fitness goals and
machine settings from the comfort of their home so that personalized options can be instantly accessed at the gym. The first fitness equip-
ment app available for Apple iOS mobile platform, the VFF app will easily sync with cardio equipment.
Tracking Calories Burned, In Real Time
When plugged into compatible cardio equipment, the VFF app allows users to set their target goals and see calories burned in real-time on
their smart phone screen. As they workout, exercisers are also motivated by watching their calories burned meter fill up in real time.
Maximizing Personalized Training
To take training to the next level, exercisers can set up and save workout routines from home on the VFF website and quickly pull up the
program via the app once they arrive at the gym. From choosing their favorite cardio machine and setting training intervals, to selecting a
calories burned goal and training schedule, users can personalize workouts to best fit their preferences. They also have the option to
share their results on Facebook and connect with friends via the apps buddy feature.
Exercisers also can take advantage of their personal trainers expertise via the buddy feature, which allows trainers to customize and send
personalized workouts to clients, who can then upload them right to the equipment at the gym. Trainers can set the target length of a work-
out and specific intervals, or even enter advanced targets such as calories burned and optimum heart rate. In addition, trainers can receive
the workout results report after a workout is complete so they can keep their clients motivated and on track.

error.

Turnkey Advantages: Total cost commitment known in advance, very competitive proc-
ess, builder responsible for all errors, little administration work required by client, the
proposal is a single package, and time frames can be dramatically compressed Disadvan-
tage: Builder is in control of all project actions, unless client produces detailed list of re-
quirements, little control over product and process, power of design team reduced as
working for builder, liability issues become cloudy as design team, and quality of end
product can be compromised

Boilerplate- generic document that uses standard language and a fill-in-the-
blank format; A contrast that addresses how the expenses and profits will be
divided between the promoter and the facility or event manager.
