World History French Revolution

The French Revolution happened in the year of 1787 until 1789. The another name of
French Revolution was call the Revolution of 1789. France was where the high-class people live
for example educated people or rich people. People around the world came to France to discuss
about new ideas. France was the center of everything. People outside look up to France but no
one knows that actually there are many problems inside this country. There are 3 main problems
in that year. Taxation, Weak leadership of France and the idea of philosophy of the
enlightenment.

In the 1770s, France use the system which call Old Regimes which this system divide
people of France into 3 groups. The First 2 groups were the Roman Catholic Church and the
Nobles. These 2 groups get more special privileges than the third group. The first group is the
Clergy. There own 10 percent of the land in France which they dont have to pay any tax to the
government. The Second rout is the rich Nobles. Which they own 20 percent of land in France,
which they didnt need to pay any tax as same as first group.

The third group which contain 97 percent of the population in France, also has been
divided into three groups too. First group was the bourgeoisie or the middle class. People in this
group work as bankers, skilled workers, merchants, or owners of factory. This group of people
were well educated and believe in the idea of the Enlightenment ideas about liberty and equality.
There are as rich as the nobles. Still, this people need to pay high taxes and didnt have any
special privileges. The people in the second group were the workers. This people include the
traders, laborers, unskilled worker, and servants. They were poorest in this group. They got low
incomes and mostly didnt have any jobs. The last group was peasants, this was the largest
population in this group. They needed to pay half of their income for tax which is for the
government and the church.

Because of the high taxation that the group needed to pay and lack of privileges they
have, they all were angry at the high-class group and wanted to change the system or society.

By the 1780, Frances economy was in a bad state. Many people, mostly the merchants,
bankers that belong to the last group mostly have problems. From the outside people think that
France economics was in a good state because of all the trading but, France only traded within
their country. There was also a problem that once France face a bad weather which destroy all
crops. Because of this France main food was destroy and the time France people face starvation.

During the time that France sent their armies to help the American colonists to fight
against the Britain, France was in a lot of debt because King Louis XVI borrow large amount of
money to pay for the warfare.

Louis XVI borrowed lots of money until 1786, the bankers refused to lend Louis the money.

During the time that France faced lots of problems, Louis XVI was the king of France
and he didnt have the skills to make decision effectively. He didnt care about the governments
work. Also in that time Antoinette give him bad advices to Louis XVI.

Louis didnt know what to do so instead he let the nobles pay tax. The noble resist and
called for a meeting from all the group to talk about the new tax system that Louis made up.

All this 3 main problems were the factors that caused the revolution in France, people in
the last group felt like they were interior of the high-class group. plus the idea of the
Enlightenment, they wanted for equality. Weak leaders of France also a main problem in France.
King Louis XVI didnt know how to solve the problem with his money. Then France people get
more angry and started to protest and caused revolution.
