AEROBIC FITNESS
DEFINITION (page 150)
Ability to take in, transport and use oxygen , in
a measure at exercise intensity
Endurance
Sustain work for prolonged periods
Less 12 min not fully aerobic
Lactic acid
Perception of intensity

First lactate threshold (LT1) is defined as the
intensity of aerobic exercise at which blood
lactate begins to increase
During easy to moderate intensities, blood
lactate will remain level as the blood clears the
lactate as quickly as it is produced.
After LT1 is reached, blood lactate
concentrations begin to increase gradually
untill the second lactate threshold is reached
Exercise intensity
Refer to how hard your body is working during
physical activity
Your heart rate, beathing, temperature and
perspiration all measure your level of exercise
intensity
Target heart rate (maxHR) for maximum health
benefits, the goal is to work hard, but not too
hard.
Overall aerobic fitness can be improved with
proper training but is also somewhat defined
by genes ( inherited). Page 146
