This article is about one high school communitys many benefits from biodiesel. Tim Lindsey, a
waste management official and a member of the Pontiac township high school science program
believe biodiesel will revolutionize the industry. The school uses biodiesel lab from the waste
management and research center, and has been implementing it into their curriculum. They are
showing the students what the many implements of biodiesel are.

I think this article will help me when I want to provide a real life example of how people are
educating each other on how they can use biodiesel to benefit their community. Compared to
some of my articles it is better and worse. Many of my article give more factual information
about what biodiesel is and how its used. Its not so good because the source doesnt included as
many factual information, more about how communities can benefit from teaching students how
its useful.

I believe I may be able to use some of this information but not the entire source. I would use how
the schools are teaching students the benefits of the fuel. It will not provide me with standardize
regulations on fuel. I would only use it to reference the benefits. I think this will be more
relatable to people.

This article is about a study done to show how biodiesel is beneficial for truck drivers and users,
one studies look at how the fuel can reduce carbon dioxide emissions from diesel engines, the
other compares fuel economy of biodiesel versus ultralow sulfur diesel. Multiple states teamed
up with the national Biodiesel board to conduct a six month pilot to record information on the
emissions and CO2 levels. In just two months it showed a 16.5 ton reduction in CO2 emissions.


This information helps show customers who want to reduce their carbon footprint how much it
actually makes a difference. The Decker truck company says by using renewable fuel, decker is
actually picking up additional business.

This article is great because it gives me actual results from real studies done by companies with
standards. It gives you a view on how the NBB is effectively reducing the CO2s in the
atmosphere. This article compared to my fist is much better. It has more information on how
people can really see the positive side of biodiesel. I believe it is at reliable source because it
came from a board of biodiesel specialist. The point of this source is to show us how changing
our fuel to a renewable resource can be beneficial to our wallets and our environment.

This article will fit into my research nicely because I am researching the benefits of biodiesel and
how it effects the environment. What better way than to show studies done on how this fuel
literally reduces the CO2 emissions in the air. It helps shape my argument because it gives me
factual information I can reference to and I can trust that it is reliable.

Since fuels must be given a specification by the American Society of Testing and Measurements
(ASTM), which biodiesel does not, to be sold to individual consumers, biodiesel is illegal to sell.
The BCC is hoping to change that. When the US standards organization for fuels and additives
demanded a specification, they labeled it Biodiesel used as a blend-stock. The BCC is now for
the ASTMs standard for B100 (pure biodiesel) to be created. In order for this to occur, the
stations incorporated in selling this fuel will sell it as a developmental fuel, which will allow
them to not only sell it legally, but set an accurate standard.

This article is good because it shows me how businesses are making it a legal fuel to start
producing and selling. It also shows how the petroleum industry is trying to prevent the
production and sale of pure biodiesel. They are trying to set a standard saying alternative fuels
should be 20 percent biodiesel and 80 percent diesel fuel. This article is actually quite similar to
another of my sources because it is talking about their community and what theyre doing about
it. It is good because it is telling me a bit more specifically about the specifications of the fuel
itself and how the petroleum industry is trying to slow them down.

This will fit in to my research by giving me technical classifications on biodiesel. It also show
how the industry may be changing in the near future. It can also show me how the production of
biodiesel will help many communities who choose to go that route. What the BCC plans to do is
have the oil locally produced and recycle the local restaurants oil into the fuel, which of course
would be locally distilled. I also like how the article gives me links to look at the official fuel
legislation, how to help their cause, and how to brew your own biofuel. This is excellent because
I will need to provide a product and what better than actual fuel.

This article is kind of an overall summary of how consumers are seeing biodiesel. They are
saying biodiesel will not replace petroleum any time soon due to the fact they believe they could
never produce enough crops to produce all that they need. They are saying this they would much
rather just incorporate it into petroleum fuels. They are saying because of the fuels down fall,
deteriorating natural rubber fuel lines and clogging fuel filters. This is because biodiesel acts as a
lubricant and cleaner and until most of the filth is out of your engine the filters will clog, but
afterwards you should experience longer filter life because your engine will be clean.

This source is good because it gives me the not so good side of biodiesel. Even though the good
outweighs the bad in efficiency and environmental benefits, a portion of the public does not yet
appreciate the potential of biodiesel. It tells me about upcoming plants to be opened, and the
main environmental benefits and drawbacks of the fuel. It is as good as my other source because
it provides me with similar information, but not the same. It is not so good because it provides
me information that is so similar I may only have one mindset for the paper.

This article fits into my research because it show how the industry is still fighting to provide
consumers with biodiesel even though not all of the feedback is positive. The information in this
article gives me a little bit of a different view. They are still trying to promote biodiesel as an
alternative fuel, but its not one sided. It tells me about why people are for it and why they are
not. It also tells me a little about what type of communities are trying to promote it more. Places
where there was never any natural fuels or gases, seem to me to be the most enthusiastic. They
know it has potential to boom their economy.
