Looking at the week after the break
Language:
Grammar: we will review collective nouns. We will begin to discuss producing, explaining and
rearranging simple sentences. We will also introduce irregular plural nouns. Example Mouse=
mice.
Spelling: We will start our spelling groups after the break. WE will have a spelling lesson
every SUNDAY and then a spelling test every THURSDAY. Due to many different language
objectives we really need home support to study and practice these words for the test each
Thursday. We thank you in advance for your support.
Math:
We will look at weighing different items using a pan balance and a spring scale. We will look
at the different ways to name a number (using tally marks, arrays, adding different ways
etc.) We will continue to use addition and subtraction strategies to find rules and missing
numbers.
Social studies: We are really looking forward to having parents in our classroom to discuss
their role models. If you are interested in doing this and you havent spoken to the classroom
teacher yet- please do so as soon as possible. Thank you!
We are discussing our summative assessment and working on our final product. We will be
researching, discussing and forming our ideas and opinions about our beliefs, values and role
models.

Other News:
Lost and Found: We have found A LOT of ties and unnamed water bottles from grade two. We
have placed a bucket under the notice board outside the grade two classrooms. Please check to
see if something there belongs to your child!
First recess: Please ensure you are sending a snack for your child in the morning break. In the
morning break there is NOT enough time for children to visit the canteen and purchase a
snack. Children can only use their money during LUNCH break.
Drop Off- Another friendly reminder children are not to be left attended before 7:30am.
This is to ensure the safety of the children. Teachers may not be in the classroom before this
time. Parents must remain with their children until 7:30am.
Finally please find the grade two schedule for the week following Eid.

Thank you again for your continued support and we hope you have a safe and fun holiday,
The Grade Two Team
