Quotes:
Jay- I never forgot you, youre the only one who gave me a chance
Seize the Day- Some (students go) without nourishing meals, love, attention, or
encouragement. These are the children we teach. Your efforts have more impact
than you could ever realize.
Seize the Day- So much of what people are, can be attributed to their environment.
Teachers are a part of each students environment. Become the most positive,
encouraging part of your students surroundings. When you do, school can become a
life-changing experience.
Coaches- Take time to look at the winning team and find out what they do to win.
Questions:
Sandra- It said to recapture the moment that inspired you. What inspired you? What
are your hopes for your first day as a teacher?
Picket Line- It talked about how the teacher, Vicki, had to deal with students that
didnt want her there, or to learn. I have a few students that dont seem to want to
learn. My IMT says sometimes you cant do anything. How would you deal with this
type of student?
Seize the Day- It says how you should be the positive part of your students day. I
know building relationships are important. My IMT says sometimes you dont have
time to engage in every question or comment a student has. Still, I dont ever want
them to feel like I dont care. It is such a fine line; to be a friend and teacher. How
will you deal with this? How can we show we care and still teach the lesson?
Little Budgets- This discusses how to make the best with what you have. As
teachers, we will obviously not be paid much. Do you have a plan of attack for your
school budgeting? How will you deal with the depression of not always being able to
do the things you want due to a low budget?
Failed lesson- Every teacher or intern has that lesson that just goes wrong. Have you
experienced this yet? How did you deal with it or how will you deal with it?
Out of Time- Not having time to complete everything that a teacher needs to is a
concern of mine. Is it one of yours? Has your IMT given you any advice for dealing
with deadlines?
Coaches- What does your IMT do well? What have you learned that you want to
implement in your classroom?
Frank Lloyd Wright- This talks about how parent involvement is important. Did you
attend your schools open house? Have you had any experience communicating with
parents? Do you have any parent volunteers? If so how does your IMT deal with
them? On the flip side, have you experienced any parent concerns? How has your
IMT dealt with them?

Points of Interest:
Jay- This is like when we talked about Everything I learned, I learned in Kindergarten
in class. You have to encourage the students to be the best they can be. You never
know the impact you will make.
Sandra- It is interesting to note how Sandra was already thinking about how the
class would react to pronouncing her name. Being a great teacher means careful
planning and anticipating students actions, both of which Sandra demonstrated.
Frank Lloyd Wright- I though it was interesting that Wrights mother found ways to
make her childrens education more meaningful. This is what we have been taught
in our schooling.
