PROCEDURE
Introduction (3 min.):
-Hand out forms for field trip and explain what it is.
( Post-Secondary Fair- CCHS) you are required to go because there is an assignment to go with it.
Body (65 min.):
- Show video on making work place your own responsibility and the video about the mother losing her child
to a work place accident.
- Go over the slide show:
Ask why young workers are more likely to be injured on the job: - scared to ask questions, not properly trained,
distracted, feel invincible, given more dangerous jobs, lack of confidence.
Explain OHS ( what it is, safety orientation) filling out accident reports.
How to say no ( Read out situation... get students to read out the right and wrong answers to say)
go over why not everyone applies to the same minimum wage and serving liquor i.e tips
Go over the differences with personal harassment and sexual harassment.. explain that is a very serious issue that can
result in a loss of job or a law suit.
go over why adolescence can only work certain hours of the day.
identify what classifies as stat holiday and what rights you have as an employer
