The reason why Olympia was chosen is that the Olympics is a very important aspect in the sporting

world and students will need to know where and how the Olympics were formed. Using this focus
text, students will be able to develop a further understanding on how and why these games were
formed. Also, learning about Ancient Greece does get developed further on in high school and it is
important for students to have some knowledge about the times that helped shaped our society to
what it is today.

The theme is all about how the Olympic Games were created. The book is about how one king in
Ancient Greece was tired of all the wars and decided to please the Gods in creating an event that
was held once every four years. The book then goes on to detail the events of the first Olympic
Games and who was allowed to participate and attend and who wasnt.
