THE DEATH OF PABLO EMILIO ESCOBAR GAVIRIA

Escobar was cornered by the armed forces and threats that his family had stopped on their terrorist campaign. I try to re-

heart, which was shot by Colonel Hugo Heliodoro Aguilar, who led the assault group.
Escobar's death generated different reactions: his family and protected mourned his death, and his funeral was attended by
thousands of people, mostly from the slums of Medellin. But the press and the government considered a triumph in the fight
against drugs.
