Congo Virus
CCHF is widespread disease caused by a tick-
borne virus.
Its name is Nairovirus of the Bunyaviridae
family.
It causes fatality rate of 10-40 %.
Its mortality rate is 30 %.
CCHF is endemic in Africa, The Balkans,Middle
East and some Asian countaries.
Symptoms
Fever
Muscle ache
Dizziness
Neck pain and stiffness
Headache, Backache
Sore eyes and Photophobia
Vomiting and Diarrhoea
Abdominal pain and Sore thraot

Symptoms after 2-4 days
Sleepiness
Depression
Fast Heart rate
Enlargement of lymph nodes
Bleeding through skin
Rashes on skin
Transmission
Through tick bites

Transmission
Through animal blood and other body fluids
Human to Human close contact of blood and
other body fluids
Improper sterilized equipments
Reuse of needles
Contaminated medical supplies.
Diagnosis
Antigen detection
Serum neutralization
Virus isolation by cell culture
Reverse transcriptase polymerase chain
reaction
Treatment
Antiviral drug ribavirin is used.
The same drug used for hepatitis C is also
luckily used for CCHF.
There is no vaccination available for it.
