The Morning Routine By Karma & Shirin
When the bell rings its time for school, so head up to class. The first thing you are going to do once you get to class, is to hang up your bag. Once youve done that, if you have a lunch from home, put it in the bin directly below the hooks.
After that, walk over to the sink, and either use hand sanitizer, or soap and water to wash your hands (the soap smells really good). The hand sanitizer lives next to the water bottle bin. Next, if you have homework, take it out of your folder, and put it in the blue bin, on the top rack, located on the teachers desk.
Take your planner (the notebook with your reading log), and place it open to your most recent reading log, on your desk. Once you are at your desk, you will notice the blue, purple, and yellow table bins. Check if your table has enough materials for the day. If not, you can find the supplies you need next to the blue cabinet with the yellow star.
Once you get to your desk, put your chair down, and put your bookbag on the back. Then read the morning message, which is located in the middle of the room, on the whiteboard. Then, you may sit down, and read until the second bell.
Seating Arrangements By Alex
When you come in you will see that there are 5 tables, you will be assigned a table.
You will have a bookbag on your chair with books.
The reason we have assigned seats is so you dont get distracted and so you can focus. You are only allowed to sit at the seat you are assigned to. Bookbags By Bethel & Isla
Sofia: Hey, Simon. Ive been wondering how to put my bag on my chair. How do I do that?
Simon: Simon says make sure your chair is on the floor.
Sofia: Okay, sounds good!
Simon: Simon says great! Lets move on! Now look at your bookbag, it should look like this:
Sofia: Yep. Mine looks like that!
Simon: Simon says now turn the top flap inside out. It looks like this off the chair:
Sofia: I see it!
Simon: Simon says now put your bookbag on the chair it will look like this:
Sofia: Are we done yet?
Simon: No. Now throw your bookbag on the floor.
Sofia: Are you sure? Okay?
Simon: Simon says jk! I didnt say Simon says!
Sofia: Anyway, if I do throw my bookbag on the floor, now I know how to put my book bag on the chair. Thank you Simon. Simon? Where are you? Rainbow Bins By Rose & Max
In our room, there is a shelf with 4 bins on Roses desk. You use the bins for different reasons.
The blue bin is on the top. That is where you put homework.
Next is the green bin. That bin is for finished work. If you finish something in class, put it in the green bin.
The next bin is the yellow bin. That bin is for unfinished work. If you are working on something in class and you dont get it done, put it in the yellow bin.
Finally, the last bin is the red forms bin. That bin is for forms that the teachers give you to bring home for your parents to sign, like permission slips.
Those are the reasons for the bins.
Morning Meeting By Isla & Bethel
Ring ring goes the bell, School will start you can tell.
Come and sit on the rug, Make yourself feel really snug.
This is our morning meeting, We start with a greeting.
Now we have meditation, Rose will read with enunciation.
It is time for yoga to start, Now pick a pose from the charts.
Rose will tell us what to do, Now listen up we are almost through.
Thank you for listening to our rhyme, Sorry we are out of time! The Stars By Marcus
You may see stars around the class.
The stars are put on things only teachers can touch.
There is a star on Roses desk, some of the books, on the smartboard.
There are 8 stars in our classroom.
This is what the star looks like.
Thats all about the stars.
The Take A Break Chair By Shirin & Karma
If youre doing something thats breaking the rule and someone tells you to stop and you dont stop, the teacher will give you a warning. If you dont stop even after the warning you will have to go to the take a break station. The take a break station is next to the second row of backpacks. There you will find 2 stress balls, and I feel strips. At the desk the teacher will tell you to stay there, till you calm down. The teacher will decide when you can get up, so wait until she tells you.
While youre calming down you can squeeze the stress balls, you can rest your head on the desk, and you can think about what you can do next time to prevent you from taking a break. Jobs By Sherley, Daveigh & Ruvencia
In our classroom we have jobs. The jobs are: - Librarian There are five people who do the librarian job and they all have a shelf to organize. - Lunch Bin There are two people that do lunch bin. Their job is to take the lunch bin down to the cafeteria. - Recycling There are two people that do recycling. When the recycling is full of trash they have to bring the recycling bin downstairs to the big recycling bin. - Passer-Outer There are two passer-outers and they pass notebooks and other things out that we need. - Table Cleaner There are two table cleaners and what they do is clean the tables at the end of the day. - Mailbox Handy Helper There is one mailbox handy helper. What the mailbox handy helper does is they put paper in our mailbox that we need. - Floor Cleaner There is one floor cleaner. What the floor cleaner does is he/she cleans the floor if its messy.
- Chair Helper There is one chair helper. What the chair helper does is puts up the chairs at the end of the day if people did not put them up, and also puts up the extra chairs around the room. - Pencil Sharpener There are two pencil sharpeners. What the pencil sharpeners do is sharpen the pointless pencils at the end of every day. - Vacation Helper There is one vacation helper. What the vacation helper does is when someone is not here for the school day the vacation helper takes their job. Supplies By Karma
Okay, so when you start the day, you will have to go through the morning routine. And one of the steps is getting the supplies for your table. Now where are those supplies? you might ask. Glad you asked! Those supplies are in the black cabinet right when you walk in. On the very top, there is the pencil sharpener. (Warning! The pencil sharpener is not used during the day!). There are also two boxes, and the mailboxes, where you keep your folders. The boxes (the smallish blue and white ones) have words on them. The white one says sharpened pencils. The blue one says pointless pencils. Now I think you can guess which kind of pencil goes in which box, right? So we got that down.
On the second shelf, there are three bins. One has markers, one has colored pencils, and one has crayons. Next to the bins, there is a stack of buckets. When you are doing a coloring project, you can grab a bucket for your table, and put the coloring supplies you need into it. Be warned, there are only enough buckets to have one at each table!
On the third shelf, there are three box thingies with drawers, a basket with glue sticks, and a basket with scissors. The first box thingie has pens, highlighters, and dry-erase board materials. The second box thingie has tape, staples, and paper clips. And the third box thingie has sticky notes, index cards, and erasers.
The fourth shelf has paper refills for the big box thingie next to the supplies that has drawers full of paper.
Lining Up By Marcus
When we line up we do it in alphabetical order. But every other day we do it in reverse. Before we go we take a deep breath, and we are expected to be silent in the hallway always. You have to stay behind the person in front of you.
Transitions By Brennan and Max
We use transitions to get to so many places in the school like gym, art, music, computer lab, library, auditorium, room 225, bathrooms, water fountain, and much more! But, there are little itty-bitty things you need to know to do. First is line order. Organized by the first letter in your first name. Stand facing the blue cabinet in line order. Basically, just take a deep breath and stay in line. Btw NO JUMPING DOWN STAIRS! (also a little strict) because you can trip. Thats all for OUTSIDE the classroom.
Now INSIDE the room, Rose or Allison will play a song and you have the length of the song to move around to whats next. Say we were on the rug at the end of the day, and it was time for the end of the day routine (learn more on page 20). Rose/Allison will turn on a song and you can pack your stuff but be done before the song is over. Thats all. Hall Passes By Ruvencia
We have three hall passes: girls pass, boys pass, and a hallway pass. The passes are next to the door. If you have to go to the bathroom or the water fountain, you get the pass and put it around your neck like a necklace. When you come back, take the pass off and put it back next to the door.
Snack By Alex
When we have snack we will be doing chatting snack or sometimes it will be a working snack. We have snack at 10:30. If you are having class snack you grab a paper towel and wait for snack. There is no trading snacks or giving snack. If you have your own snack you take it out and make sure it is a nut-free food. No Nuts. Snack is 5-10 minutes long.
No Snark Zone By Ashraf, Nathaniel & Tahmid
So Hello, when you enter this room you cant be snarky. What it means is you cant be sarcastic in a mean way. For example in the book Wonder, Auggie the main character has a deformed face and a kid named Julian said Is your favorite Star Wars character Darth Sidious? because Darths face got deformed. You couldnt say something like that in our room! Another word for snarky is obnoxious. You dont want to be annoying or rude here.
The Scale By Tahmid
If you see a scale above the white board, that is our individual/community needs scale. An individual is one person. A community is a bunch of people. Individual needs are what one person needs, for example some people might have bad handwriting, so they need a keyboard. Or one person might need or want a certain book to read.
But if one person wants the same book as someone else, they should put that book back and share. The community needs to have books for everyone. We have to balance what the individual needs with what everyone needs.
I Feel By Shirin & Isla
When you tease me, I feel scared, because you yell loudly, so what I would like is for you to stop yelling.
That was an I feel sentence. You write this when you have trouble with friends and classmates and you feel upset with them or you dont like something they are doing.
After you write the I feel sentence, the person you wrote it to can do an I feel sentence back if they feel like they dont like something youre doing.
I feel sentences are helpful if youre in a conflict with another child. Equality vs. Justice By Isla & Shirin
In our classroom, we have a rule which is shown in this picture:
It shows equality vs. justice. In our class, we believe in justice because sometimes equality isnt fair. For example, in the picture, there are three people: a tall person, a medium person, and a shorter person. In the first picture, each person has 1 box to stand on, but the shorter person cant see the game. The shorter person needs more boxes.
People in our class need different things to help them learn and succeed.
Word Wall/Glossary By Nathaniel, Ashraf & Tahmid
Hello, Im going to teach you about the word wall/glossary. Do you know where the hooks are? On that wall there are these words from our glossary. We call that a word wall. A word wall is a wall with interesting words from the book were reading, Wonder. The words are parts of speech like: noun, verb, adjective and adverb. Well thats all about the glossary. Also check No Snark Zone and Planner/Reading Log.

How to Use the Library By Max & Brennan
There are many sections of our library: fiction, classics, sci-fi/fantasy, sports fiction, mysteries, historical fiction, religion/holidays, sports (non-fiction) facts, inventions and experiments, places, amazing true stories, graphic novels, government and symbols, robots, human body, underwater animals, land animals, plants, natural environment, field guides, and more!
In order for you to use the library, you need to follow some instructions. First, on your seat is a bookbag (read more on page 3). You can take books from the library and put them in your bookbag until youre done with them. When youre done, put them in the returned book bin. And only take 3 books at a time from the library!
Planners/Reading Logs By Tahmid, Nathaniel & Ashraf
In room 224 we have planners. The way they work is that you write and record your homework on todays date. You have to read for 30 minutes per day at least. You write the book title, the amount of pages you read, the amount of minutes you read, and the connection or statement, and your parents will have to sign it on the bottom. This is what you do in your planner every day, its basically the same as a reading log but also a planner. End of Day Routine By Brennan & Max
At the end of the day, you need to follow a list of instructions written on the wall next to the backpack rack. First thing to do is go to the mailboxes next to the blue cabinet and take out your folder, and forms.
Next, get your bag off the hooks and get your planner (which will be at your desk or in your hand), put your planner and folder in your bag. But make sure your homework has been copied down first in your planner!
Then, go to your seat and take your bookbag (learn more on page 3) off your seat and put your chair up on your desk with the bookbag (with your name showing) on the top of the chair.
Then you get your lunch and you know, put it in your bag, yeah, yeah, yeah. Then you can take an independent reading book and take it home.
