Children who are overweight or obese as preschoolers are 5 times as likely as normal- weight children to be overweight or obese as adults (CDC, 2013).
In a 2009 survey, 16.4% of students in 9 th -12 th
grade were overweight, and 14.1% were obese (CDC, 2012). Recognition as an EC program that goes above and beyond to create a healthy, nurturing environment The opportunity to provide a healthier environment for children, families, and staff Recipients are invited to a special recognition awards event. Enhance your EC programs image in the community and add credibility to your program Utilize wellness achievements and certification as a recruitment and retention strategy for current and future clients

Applicants do not compete with other EC programs within their category. Certification is solely based on percentage of criteria obtained in total application.
