! Complete the Reading Report Form
! Design and create a new book cover for the novel, complete with illustrations and
phrasing similar to a standard dust cover.
! Prepare a chart identifing at least five characters (protagonist and antagonist included),
their relationships, and a few biographical facts about each.
! Draw a timeline/plot diagram to illustrate 10 major events in the story, specifically the
exposition, inciting incident introducing the conflict, important details of rising action,
the main moments of climax or conflict resolution, and the final resolution and any
additional denouement.
! Make a list of five significant questions about the book that you think anyone who reads
this book should be able to answer. Include the answers.
! Document 4 significant quotes from the book of what characters have said or descriptions
that have been made and what they meant to you or the context of the book.
! Keep a personal dictionary for the words you found challenging or significant in the
novel. (Document the word, a brief definition, and the authors context in which it was
used.) A minimum of 10 words is required.
! Type a one-page BUSINESS letter of at least 3 paragraphs to the author via their
publishing company. Research and identify an appropriate address for actually sending
the letter. Introduce yourself to the author and how you came to choose their novel to
read. Explain why you liked or disliked the book, your favorite parts, and what you
would have done differently with the plot. If there should be a sequel, be willing to offer
suggestions for what should happen next. Also include any lingering questions that you
have for the author that you feel were left unresolved.
! Write a one-page script for a book review, without spoiling the ending, that introduces
readers to the theme, the characters, and the main conflict. This will need to read like the
script of a movie trailer. These scripts will be recorded and set to video and picture
images with background music as book trailers for an additional project.
