AVID 12 - Senior Binder Grade Criteria and Assessment

The first semester of your senior year in AVID is spent applying to universities and scholarships
while the second semester is focused on financial aid, completing a research paper and
preparing for the transition to the university. Your binder will be assessed for completeness and
professionalism in organization and presentation.

Your AVID College Binder must include the items listed below in an appropriate order
determined by you, include a table of contents and dividers. If you do not have an item, create
a typed page that indicates what item you do not have and why you do not have it. You are
welcome to include additional relevant items that are not listed below.

Semester 1 - Must be submitted on or before December 18
Table of contents
A copy of your current high school transcript
A completed CSU application (printed out)
A completed UC application with personal statement (printed out)
A completed EOP (CSUs), CAMP (CSU Migrant)
A printed verification of each application that you submit
At least one application is required
A completed Senior Resume (Personal Profile)
Your letters requesting a letter of recommendation and a thank you note
Letters of recommendation (3 minimum - 2 academic, 1 character)
Scholarships (proof that you have applied for at least ten scholarships)
A print out of your SAT/ACT scores and AP scores (you are required to take the SAT or
ACT at least one time by December of your senior year)
Complete list of community service activities (use of AVID community service logs
encouraged)
Honors, awards, and recognition

Semester 2 - Must be submitted on or before May 21
A completed copy of the most current FAFSA form and verification it has been submitted
Letters of college acceptance or rejection
Scholarships (proof that you have applied for at least 10 scholarships - 20 in all)
Completed Self Portrait Project
A copy of your Valedictorian speech
A print out of you AVID online Senior Data
Honors, awards, and recognition
Design your cover (consider including name, year of graduation, schools you have
applied to. other important pictures or symbols)
A sophisticated and well supported essay describing what you foresee to be the
value of the experiences and education you are seeking at college.
